There are two commercials that I partly remember, I believe from the 60s that I'm trying to track down.

1. Burl Ives was singing, and, IIRC, some cute brunette female (looked like Karen Allen) was playing guitar. Some of the words were"...don't harm yourself, don't spoil this land... In God's world, his will be done, yet until you live <something, something> ...Full of love and charity..."
WAIT! Just found much of the poem for the song on Google, but, not the commercial, nor Burl.

2. One of those late night Public Service (I guess) commercials. Something about love, peace, tolerance...I'm not sure. But, I do remember some of the words on it. The first part was some kind of free verse poem VO, from a little girl in a concentration camp. Some of the words "If flowers bloom...then why can't I". After the reading of the poem another little girl went on "...the children of X concentration camp..." Cool, and eerie.

At any rate, this is all I got. Can anybody help me find them?

Thanks,
hh

No link to the commercial, but you can presumably hear the song by clicking Option #4 on this page (http://www.artistdirect.com/nad/window/media/page/0,,1152839-4873844,00.html). (Warning: my media player plugin crashed when I tried to listen, thus I can't vouch for the sampled song being the version that I remembered when you posted this.)

I can't say anything about the second one, but the first one was sorta like a PSA for Johnny Horizon, a predecessor of sorts for Woodsy Owl. I have the clearest mental image of the commercial you're talking about, but I couldn't find a video online. The closest thing was a duet between Burl and Johnny Cash. Good luck, though.

Hey, guys, thanks for the replies. I hadn't seen a response for a couple days, so I gave up. Too soon, it appears.

thanks again,

In re commercial #2:
Well, dunno why I hadn't tried it before, but, I googled some of the words of the poem, and came upon some site about Terezin.

I think this poem is the one: http://www.nonduality.com/terezin3.htm

AND, I believe that Terezin was the concentration camp mentioned. Haven't found the vid yet, but, at least I'm on the right track.

This thread inspired me to post what I remembered of the lyrics and tune to YouTube:
