This movie came to mind while reading/posting to the "Good Book to Movie Adaptations" thread.
I'm talking about The Wayward Bus (http://us.imdb.com/Title?0051182). It came out in '57 and stars Joan Collins and Jayne Mansfield.
The story is taken from a Steinbeck book of the same name. It is not one of his more popular titles, but I really enjoyed the book. I have heard mixed opinions on whether or not the movie was any good.
Any dopers out there seen this one? Whadja think?

Saw it when it first came out. Don't remember a thing about it except that RICK JASON was in it. But then again, I think HE was the reason that I went to see it in the first place.
Oh well!
Havbe I seen it? I have it on video! I was thinking of doing a Jayne Mansfield bio a few years back, but it ran into Insurmountable Problems.
Not a bad movie; could have been better—but I've never read the book, so I can't say if it was a good adaptation. It was nice to see Jaynie in a rare serious role, and I thought she did rather well!

Damn! Where did you get a hold of that? I searched for a while yesterday and every instance of it that I could find just showed as "not available".
Find a copy of the film-history publications "Classic Images" or "Films of the Golden Age," both of which run lots of ads for companies that sell unusual, old and out-of-circulation videos.
If you can't find 'em on your newsstand, log on to http://www.classicimages.com

Did you mean "A source for cool movies! Sweet!" or
"Sweet [Eve], thanks for the source for cool movies?"

Well, I meant "A source for cool movies! Sweet!".
Which is not to say that Eve isn't sweet -- It's just that I've been reading over in the pit about how she deals with people on the subway, and frankly, I'm a tad frightened of her. ;)
" . . . and frankly, I'm a tad frightened of her."
—And that's how I like to keep it, dear [gracefully tucking the shiv back into her garter].

We're all frightened of Eve; that's what makes her so terribly sexy, and so sexily terrible.
