How do you know when a lime is ripe?

Eat it... If it doesn't taste good, it wasn't ripe...

Jeez, this stuff isn't that hard.

It should be an even, dark green all over, with almost no hint of any other color. When you squeeze it, it should give very slightly; unripe limes will be hard as golf balls, while overripe ones will be squishy.
