the earth spins on an axis (picturing a ball with a pencil stuck through it). it spins at a certain velocity. and we don't really notice in everyday life because of gravity and stuff.
BUT, if you were on the axis, where you would presumably spin faster, would you get dizzy?
santa is at north pole, is he dizzy?
if this has already been discussed, please link to it, i couldn't find anything.

Ummm.... I think you need to think this through a little more.
Imagine that you are standing on a rotating stage. The stage goes around once per day. Do you think this would make you dizzy?

Or ask yourself this question, which moves faster the hub of a wheel or a point on the rim?

i did think this through and don't see the relevence of your reply. if the stage is very very large, then yes this would make a difference.
if run around a tree real fast, i'll get dizzy, but if i run around a track, i won't.

....even if i am running the same d/t.

But it takes far longer to run around the track than it does the tree. Would you get dizzy if it took you as long to circle the tree as is does the track? I think not.
It is a matter of the amount of time it takes to complete one revolution, no matter the distance covered. So, it takes 24 hours to make one revolution on earth no matter what your location is. In other words yourangular velocity remains constant.

Hypothesis: A person at the pole would get dizzy from the spin of the earth.
Verifying experiment: Stand in one spot. Turn on that spot so that, in 24 hours, you again face the direction you started. Note effects.

Succinctly put Mr Young. Sometimes the obvious escapes me.

Hey, every Christmas Eve, the guy drinks a little rum, a little hot toddy, a little wine, or a little spiked egg nog at every house on the planet... and you wonder why he's a little dizzy?

You're all wrong.
Santa's real.
There is no Cecil.
But, as long as there is a little bit of Cecil in all of us, he will live forever.

"Yes, Virginia, there is a Cecil Clause."
If I had any writing skills, I'd create a thread on MPSIMS converting the famous editorial in honor of Unca Cece. Anyone here up to the challenge?
