View Full Version : Foolish sex question

Is this normal? 50-something male who not only wants to have sex 3 or more times a day but who actually ejaculates copiously every time. Not that I'm complaing, mind you. It's just that I haven't experienced anything like this since I was in high school (20 years ago). I had always thought that the sex drive diminished with age.... do I revel in this or test his testosterone levels? Both? Neither? Please help me out here!

Most certainly it diminishes with age. Did you know your partner when he was 18? Maybe back then ten or fifteen times a day was normal.

No Oopick, I didn't. But from the conversations we have had I assumed he had a relatively average sex drive..nothing outstanding. It just seems to me that someone past mid-life would be more than satisfied with a maximum of once a day.

Well shell, I guess all that copious copulation would be a real waste of your if he weren't making you happy, which I assume he is. Congrats :)

Most certainly it diminishes with age.
Well, I find that over the past 25 years, my sex drive has not diminished at all. (Well, maybe after adolescence it did taper off a bit.) But lately, it has noticeably increased... because I'm using it more, have a skilled partner, and am actually more intent on pleasing her.
My gut feel is that it's a matter of use it or lose it. I suspect shell's beau never let his equipment go unexercised for very long... if you get my drift.
My advice, shell, is to count yourself blessed and take full advantage of it. When he demands too much from you, tell him. (Although sometimes, too much is just enough.)

Oh, come on, no sex question is foolish! Sometimes sex is foolish, but questions, no!

Shell- the only thing I can say on this subject is from personal experience so here goes.
It is my feeling that most men can have what would be considered "exceptional" performance with a partner that they consider to be particularly desirable.
I personally had a relationship with a specific woman who was "just my type" and the two of us could perform to "exceptional" degrees.
I would submit that you might be your current partner's "type" and being such you inspire him to great things. Hopefully the two of you will enjoy a long (no pun intended) relationship.

Boy do I look forward to turning 50! :-)
Are you sure he isn't taking testerone?

No testosterone, no viagra. No complaints from me either- just sheer amazement. Thanks all for your input, and for not making me feel like a dope for asking.

I read a study a couple of years ago which concluded that men aged 50 and over were having more sex than those in their 30s and 40s. The researchers concluded that this had to do with changed responsibility levels - ie, kids were often grown and left home, mortgage paid of, and the retirement pretty much already provided for. I'll see if I can hunt up an online copy of it.
