We've got the 4th of July Freedom Festival coming up on Wednesday here in Houston, and it just caught my attention that it's BP who's sponsoring it.
All well and good, right?
Yeah, I think that's great, but I note few catch the irony of British Petroleum sponsoring a celebration of our break-away-from-Britain event (birth o' modern democracy an' all that). Perhaps they really were glad to be rid of us.
Not a problem, really. I consider the Brits in a well light, and I'm glad if we can all think this way. Funny, still.

I assume you're referring to the "BP Power of Freedom Festival"?

I guess it takes more than a hurricane to keep the "We Live At Sea Level and We're Not Worried" party animals down, huh? :D
I hereby empower you, Beatle, to procure virtual street food for me. [waves magic wand]

POOF!! Beatle magically reappears in Central Illinois, the night before the party (hey, it's my magic wand, I can do what I want) with one each of the following:
Shrimp on a Stick
Fajitas
Strudel and Ice Cream
Roasted Corn
And you can bring me a Crawfish & Shrimp Pocket, and if it looks too weird I will let the Better Half eat it.
And I want a large Pepsi, not too much ice.
And napkins.
Thank you.

Not to rain on you parade (or fireworks), but with the British Petroleum merger with Amoco last year the name was changed to Beyond Petroleum.

rob (did you have to say "rain?"), BP went as BP Amoco for a little while after they took over (the American Oil Company - formerly Pan-Am/Stanolind), but last year announced they're back to just plain old BP (with nary a name hiccough when they swallowed Vastar/Arco).
DDG, I'll see what's out there, but really now dear, Pepsi? This is Texas. ;)
