View Full Version : So what are your plans this weekend?

I'll start :)
Today I plan to get all my chores done as early as possible, even though I woke up with what feels like a summer cold-thank god for dayquil-because tonight the boy I adore, who I love the most, who I would take a bullet for is coming to town...
My nephew :)
Tonight the grandparents have him then he'll spend the night at my place. Tomorrow me and the other aunts, uncles and cousins are taking him to Six Flags Great America for the day.
I can't wait. I haven't seen him f2f in over a year. He lives in Utah and I live in Illinois. He's eleven now and already taller than me.
::sigh:: I feel old now. I remember when he was just a baby.
So, what are YOUR plans?

Hmmm, the Perfect ChildTM is spending the night with a girlfriend... Wonder if I can get lucky tonight?!?
Hubby took the day off today and he's at home building workbenches for his shop in the basement - I expect I'll be helping him to finish them. We're going to buy a window air conditioner/heater to install down there - the humidity is rusting his tools... (OK, who's gonna make a snide comment here??)
We also need to hang the curtains in the boat, but that won't take more than an hour total, minus the commute to the marina.
Then there's the laundry, and I need to dig up some dead shrubs, and my van needs to be vacuumed...
Do I live a wild life or what?!? <sigh> This would be a good weekend to be abducted. Any takers? Please?!?!?

Well, tomorrow morning I'm going to go buy some Trigger cloth and start work on my new suit of plates, then in the afternoon we're going to our friends' house to help paint dinosaurs on their son's room's walls. Sunday we're going to either archery or boffer/heavy combat practice.
What?

Well, here in the UK it's a Bank Holiday (execpt Scotland)- which means we get Moday off work :D
(Although The Boss will be back on Tuesday - so that gives me somthing to look forward to :( )
Tommorow I will be catching the Train to the Welsh coast, where my parents and siblings are currently staying. Hopfully the weather will be good.
Sunday evening there is a battle re-enacment at the local castle which sounds like it could be interesting.
Tonight though it's just me and the TV ;)

Oooh, what a great weekend for you to ask about!
Today, I'm getting off work at 3:00 to go get a massage from a gal that is supposed to be a phenomenal masseuse.
After that, its off the store for a few supplies and then home to go running, shower/shave, paint my nails and wait for Shadowfox to come over. She's spending the night and in the morning, we will be heading down to......
ChiDope!!!! (http://boards.straightdope.com/sdmb/showthread.php?threadid=81408)
Drunkeness, debauchery, Marines, jello, Chinese food, an Irish pub, thinksnow in a Hawaiian shirt, UncleBill in a kilt, a tattoo, a piercing. Wow! Sounds like a weekend out of a crazy movie or something! :D
Tonight I'm going to sneak out of work early and see Jay And Silent Bob Strike Back. Afterwards, I'm going to curl up with a bottle of gin and watch the Vikings lose to the Colts.
Tomorrow morning I've got a lunch date with Wendy, then the afternoon will consist of laundry, picking up The Graduate on DVD, and making sure I've got the supplies necessary for Tuesday night's movie event.
Sunday consists of football.

Cleaning... I have these little things called "Inspections".
<sigh>
I'd go see J&SB if I had any money.
<double sigh>
I also be talking to Jessica, and missing her desperately, and wishing I could be with her for just a few moments.

I'm still recovering from an illness, so sleep, sleep, and more sleep. Maybe some shopping if I feel up to it.
I may ponder getting a life, also.

I'll probably be spending most of this weekend in my dorm room, curled up on my bed. I think I'm coming down with something. Next weekend, now, that's another story.

I have a great weekend planned. Two of my wife's childhood female friends are visiting, and as one of them just got divorced, I'm pretty sure that having a penis is going to be a definite disadvantage.
I wish I lived near Chicago, ChiDope sounds like so much more fun...

I am going to clean my apartment. Again.
I will likely spend a few more hours on administrative details for the event (http://www.ahfi.org/wmaw) that my organization is planning.
I will play with my ex-girlfriend's cats, whom I will be watching for the duration of the weekend.
I will finish the biography of the Buddha that I am currently reading.
I will spend as little money as possible and see as few people as possible.

I'll be spending the day and evening up at Lake Tahoe on Saturday. Not sure exactly what we'll be doing there: biking, boating or swimming, the agenda is open.
Sunday is my kids' last day before school starts, so I told them that we'd do anything they wanted to do. They've been preparing their lists all week, and will spring them on me at breakfast Sunday.
On Monday, I'm going to head back to the office, crawl under my desk, and sleep :)

I'm getting the hell outta this house for the weekend and spending it hopefully with friends. Where my belly will fill with liquor and laughter and I'll forgot about all the stupid problems that plague me currently. I SHOULD
clean my room which is filthy disgusting and vacuum my car. But to me thats "work" and must be saved for a weekday.

I'm going to say many times to myself and to others that I will clean my place this weekend. But I secretly plan to put it off until Monday.
I will be accompanying my brother and his children to a water park on Saturday, for sure. But I've really got to see some movies this weekend.
I'm in a friendly (so he thinks) competition with a friend to see who can cram in the most individual movie-viewings this year. (Too bad I won't be able to count the 80 times I'll see Fellowship of the Rings. It'll only count once.) I'm trailing at the moment, and it can not continue!

What? What'd I say?
Hey, I claim insanity. The doc just cold-turkeyed me off all my pain meds. I'm NOT a happy kitty right now. Must share the wealth! :)
Oh, and this weekend Mr. Bobkitty and I have rented a bulldozer and will be leveling our house site in preparation for our footings to be marked out and dug. Mmmm.. no pain meds, a very pissed off kitty, and a bulldozer. Yay!! Mass destruction!!! Anyone want to come out to the back edge of the middle of nowhere and help?

If you swap "professional wrestler with the surname Hardy or Van Dam" for "nymphomaniacal heiress" and "him" for "her", you have my usual weekend plans, hehehehe.
So far, I've cleaned the bird and lizard cages and the litter box. Now I have to finish cleaning the house and do inventory so I can go get groceries. I have to feed an eleven year old boy. I don't think Garden Burgers and rice will do the trick. :)
I can't wait to see my baby. :) Yes, he's still my baby, even though he's now taller than me. Just six more hours until he's here...

Well, tonight I have to watch Farscape on the Sci-Fi channel.
Tomorrow, Mrs. B. wants to go to the Oregon state fair, (http://www.fair.state.or.us/) and tomorrow night we had hoped to go out to dinner and catch up with some old friends, but they haven't gotten back to us on that yet.
Sunday we had hoped to watch our 12-year-old grandson's Babe Ruth League team, (http://baberuth.macroplay.com/communities/home.jsp?gid=196975) Cal Ripkin Division, (like Little League, only different) play in the Babe Ruth World Series (http://www.brlworldseries.com/playlist_cr_12.html) game in Vincennes, Indiana, but his team lost yesterday, so they're out. (The final game is the only one being televised, on FOX, IIRC.) So anyway, we'll probably just clean the house, wash and vacuum the vehicles, have sex 10 or 12 times, the usual humdrum, everyday, old married couple stuff. You know.
P.S. If you followed the link to the team picture, it's a lousy picture, but our kid is third from the left, back row. (I think)
P.P.S. They're the National League, Pacific Northwest division champs.
P.P.P.S. It's also a lousy website.

Tonight (Friday 8/24/01) I'm going to listen to by boss play at Billy's in Buckhead.
Any Atlanta dopers reading this? Billy's is just north of The Roxey in Buckhead... right next to Rio Bravo. His first set is at 9:30 pm.
Plenty o' parking in the back... which is amazing for those of you not familiar with Buckhead.
On saturday I will be umpiring in a high school tournament in south Atlanta. (I'm going to be SOOOO tired!)
On Sunday.... I'm sleeping in!
Come on down to Billy's!

Well, this morning I got up and met two grad school friends in the grad library. 9 am library time. A new record for me. Now I feel good about myself.
Tonight, we take Cranky Jr to a local fair to see the 4-Hers farm animals.
Tomorrow (Saturday), I go to see BareNakedLadies at an outdoor concert venue with some coworkers. Sunday, we go to the inlaws to celebrate multiple family birthdays, mine being one of them.
Sunday night, we begin frantically clean the house because our housekeeper comes on Monday, and it's been four weeks. Things are scary.

I am indeed. Though I am a bit disappointed that she doesn't actually know Pali, I think the biography is brilliant overall.

Sat. - pick up Krispy Kremes, drive west until road ends and ocean begins, sit on Santa Monica beach for a few hours,
stroll down 3rd Street Promenade, eat something good, watch the sun set into the Pacific, drive home, sleep the sleep of heavenly angels.
Sun. - rub lotion on sunburned skin, nap, catch a movie

Heading home to the parents home to dog sit while the parents are at the shore and the sister is at the bachelorette party in Las Vegas.
Saturday is the meeting with college friends I haven't seen in a Hell of a long time for an evening of laughter, and role playing games.
Sunday is the meeting with high school friends I haven't seen in a Hell of a long time for an evening of laughter and role playing games.
So basically it will be a weekend of laughter and role playing games. Works for me! :D
I plan to continue exploring Seattle and surrounds. Saturday morning I get my hair cut (new stylist -- yikes!)and Saturday afternoon I'm going to the zoo with a friend -- woohoo! I've never been to the Seattle zoo and haven't been to any zoo in years. Saturday night, walk the dog, who will have been cooped up all day.
Sunday I ought to clean my house, but chances are good I'll loaf around and read. I may take a drive if the weather is nice (which it's supposed to be).
Tonight I'm meeting friends for drinks after work, and I imagine that will include dinner -- at least it will for little old single non-cooking me, even if dinner is an appetizer.
Mostly I'll be thrilled with what I'm NOT doing: NOT moving or unpacking and NOT studying for a big honkin' exam.

Hmmm.. I'm assembling a coffee table I just got from IKEA. That should take approximately 26 hours (according to the box). The leftover time I might cut up some old pictures of ex-boyfriends and violently clean my apartment. Of course, I'll have to watch the Sunday night movie to quietly end the weekend. I'm really looking forward to it. If I get risky, I might eat a sandwich.

I'm going to Belfast.
Kind of a silly reason, really. If I stayed in Dublin, because of events going on here this weekend, I'd be 99% likely to run into the guy that just dumped me a few weeks ago. If I get out of town this weekend, I almost definitely won't run into him for another month, by which time I fully intend not to care. So I'm going to Belfast (a city I love and haven't spent enough time in lately anyway) so I can enjoy myself this weekend. For once.
If I don't get shot that is :D

My baby's here. I finally got to hug my nephew after a year. He's taller than me like that's hard to do.
He just went to dinner and a movie with the grandparents. Tomorrow it's Great America. :)
I could just explode with happiness right now.

Talking to my Stephen, missing him like crazy, counting the days until I get to see him again, and being infinitely grateful that I'm still ahead of bobkitty in line. ;)
Sitting in my little sister's empty bedroom, crying because she left for her freshman year at St. Michael's this morning. She's making me feel old.
Packing for school, and doing laundry, and going to the grocery store to pick up essentials.
Keeping an eye on the family pets, since my parents are up in Vermont with my sister, helping her get settled into the dorm.
Maybe going to a movie -- depending on how much money my mom left me for shopping. :)

Let's see.... Last night was some movie-watching with lurker (of which I don't remember much of the movie, ifyouknowwhatImean ;) )
Today I'm doing a little cleaning, a little shopping for my sister's wedding and then tonight we're going to Irish Night at the Mets' game.
Tomorrow, I'll probably spend some time catching up on the boards & on my e-mail in the morning, and then tomorrow night is a cook out at lurker's house, at which time I get to meet the rest of his family. (Yes, this makes me nervous!!!) All in all, this is going to be a pretty big weekend.
Next weekend should be MUCH calmer, I hope!!! (Though not nearly as much fun!)
I'm going to shower love on my brand new puppy. That, and make sure he doesn't piddle on the rug. Then I'll play with him, snuggle with him, wake up in the middle of the night to make sure he's still breathing, that kind of stuff.
And my mom and dad are coming for a visit tomorrow. Sometimes I think they're even more excited about this puppy than I am.
I might rent a movie tonight too.

Well, no Great America today, weather is not cooperating. So as everyone makes plans, I snuck in here.
Just when I thought I couldn't be happier, I just found out I'm going to be an aunt again. :)
[backstory]
My older sister had two sons, Christopher-the nephew that's here with me now-and Craig. Chris is now eleven and Craig would have been seven, but he died two years ago of cancer.
My sister had problems with both pregnancies and had decided after Craig was born not to try again. About a year ago, she decided to have another child.
Her due date? April 20th, 2002, which, swear to god, would have been Craig's eighth birthday.
I'm sitting here typing all teary eyed, but I'm so happy right now.

While it wasn't in my plans, I got dragged to karoke night at the bar by Richard and his boss. The boss and I were scoping out chicks. :D

Today, maybe some casual tidying-up of the house. Romping with the dogs. Arcade games on my new emulator (Gyruss! Rabbit Punch! Whee!) Maybe a DVD. Alter and print out some maps for tomorrow's game. Research for said game; maybe an hour or two. Tonight, maybe a movie with friends.
Tomorrow, prep for game, and then... eight hours of D&D. Yeeee-haw!
Always gets me set up right for another week in the salt mines.

Lessee, this afternoon I need to go shopping, since my dad hasn't bothered to tell be before he's gone to the grocery store in recent weeks, so I have to buy some stuff like toothpaste and shampoo and such. Tonight I'm spending time with my girlfriend... we're having communications issues, so I'll see if I can't get those fixed, and to keep it short it should be... interesting. Tomorrow afternoon I go scoop cat shit at the shelter where I work, and then, I dunno, laze around for the rest of the day until I start my homework at 10 or so. Then it's back to a week of school drudgery.

This morning I went to the ShopRite. Then I had to cover the office cause most of the people are on vacation or at a funeral. After work I will go to the laudromat, then come back and read my new Stephen Sondheim/Andrew Lloyd Webber bio, while playing my two new German Jesus Christ Superstar CDS.
Tomorrow I will go to ShopRite again, take a walk throught the park, and play CDS while finishing the book. Then supper in front of the TV: News, Futurarama, Hank Hill and of course THE SIMPSONS.
