i can't find it anywhere on the net, but i would think that religous tycoons would be looking into the symbology in bin laden's name: seeing if it equals 666 in english, jewish, or arabic. i haven't heard anything about the situation in relation to numerology. has anyone else?

I'm sure someone's trying it. I'm also sure it'd be easy enough to find a way to get '666' from the name, then couch it in a spuriously fevered chain email and send it on.

Somebody did do it on this board. I wouldn't be too impressed, though; the algorithm they used could probably be changed to get anyone's name.
Look for Barney = 666 around on Google. I saw one site that showed how to derive 666 from any name. I can't remember the URL for it though (sorry).

This (http://www.greaterthings.com/) website might be your best chance for finding some entertaining theology on the events of the last week. Specifiacally, check out the "Alphabetics" button at the website.

Well, I found the thing for looking up your name to see if it adds up to 666. However, it turns out to be a Melissa-type worm virus that only purports to do this. As soon as you enter text in the box, it starts doing its "virus" thing.
So, um, I'm not going to post the link here.
Well, anyway, here's the "Is Barney Satan?" link. Heh.

And here's how to use ASCII code to prove that Al Gore is the Antichrist. From Lockfist's link. Hee.

Dubya, strangely enough, is not the Antichrist.

Anybody can be the Antichrist... see this article (http://www.ansible.demon.co.uk/writing/ft107.html) by SF critic/humorist Dave Langford. (You can even get the software here (http://www.ansible.demon.co.uk/ai/freebies.html), though I must admit I haven't tried it out.)
