View Full Version : But, 'If you build it', will they come?

It seems likely that the WTC will be rebuilt. I have no particular objection to this, as long as federal money isn't used.
However, just who would move back in? I sure wouldn't. Would it still be the prestigious address that it was for many years?
Wouldn't companies have a problem finding anyone who would work there?

Umm.. perhaps you are not aware that there is an amazing glut of empty office space, due to over-expansion and overbuilding during the dotcom boom? Even in NYC, there are huge office spaces available for a fraction of the rents of only a couple years ago. In some cases, companies that committed to long term leases have downsized and are unable to fill their office spaces, so they're desperate to sublet the space at a fraction of what they are paying.
No, there is no point to rebuilding the WTC. It was a white elephant.

Well, they are planning to rebuild. For several reasons. Not the least of which is show the terrorists a hearty "screw you". Which is probably why people will move into it.
