London for the Weekend

Since airfares are so low (not too pleased by the reason for this) and I have 4-day weekends right now, I'm headed to London in early December for a short visit. I'll probably arrive Friday morning after an overnight flight from Boston, and leave on Monday afternoon.

So, I have three full days. A friend who is in school nearby will be coming into the city, but she's pretty new in England, so we'll be exploring together.

I've been to London before, but it was at least 10 years ago. That time I saw St Pauls, the Tower, and some other popular tourist attractions. This time I'd like to see some more of the city, probably catch a play, visit one or two selected museums, and have a moderately relaxed but interesting time. Suggestions?

I also haven't found a hotel yet, so any suggestions about which part of the city to stay would be highly appreciated.

a new attraction that I really enjoy is the London Eye (Millenium Wheel) You get a great view of the capital, and on a sunny day its a real treat.
Its near to the Houses Of Parliment and is quite popular if you are interested I suggest you pre-book the tickets or else you might br disappointed.

Another favourite of mine is Covent Garden, I find it really nice to eat in the pub which over looks the entertainers on the ground. lots of stalls and shops for you to spend money in.

Of course theres the touristy places which should be looked at and even an open roofed bus tour, be warned if your coming in the next few months its gunna be cold.

of course you're goning to have to learn all the cockney rhyming slang before you get here.

As for things to do/see... You will need to try the London Eye (Millennium Wheel) for a bird's eye view of Westminster; it will be a bit cold for a cruise along the Thames; try Tate Modern for a bit of Modern Art; nearby is Shakespear's Globe Theatre to experience it how it was - again a bit cold for that; head North for a walk on Hamstead Heath; Leicester Square is the place for shows (I can recommend Art for a good evening); Natural History Museum is great, and located near Harrods for some shopping...
