That's a misreading of what I was saying. What I'm saying is that the blanket rejection of the computation theory of mind being advanced by HMHW would overturn many widely accepted principles of cognition that form a major underpinning of cognitive science. As Fodor has said, CTM is a powerful explanatory device that should not, however, be taken as a complete explanation for all of cognition. Nowhere in this is there any implication that we have a functional understanding of the mechanisms of consciousness. That's not what I was implying at all.
