Stepping back and looking at the problem in general, I have two conflicting thoughts:
1 - Every single theory proposed so far seems to have fatal flaws and that is after significant effort by really smart people. This kind of points towards the answer not being based on logic and math.
2 - But, there have been math problems that took centuries to solve, maybe this is one of them.
