Republican Spam

so i got this im my email this morning:

Quote:
Bush Administration Took Appropriate Action in Response to General Threats

Dear Republican,

Americans know that President Bush when faced with credible information about a threat would act swiftly and strongly. It is terribly unfair to the victims and victim families of the terrible tragedy of September 11 for anyone to suggest anything to the contrary. Such statements are irresponsible and politically motivated.

Last summer, President Bush and Members of Congress received briefings that contained general, non-specific and uncorroborated information about possible threats. In light of the potential threats, the Bush Administration took appropriate action including alerts to law enforcement agencies, airlines, and U.S. assets overseas to protect the lives of American citizens here and abroad.

Sign the "Pledge for a Bush Majority" for a Chance to go to the President's Dinner

President Bush is working to advance his positive, compassionate, and results-oriented agenda for America despite the continued stonewalling by Tom Daschle and Senate Democrats. Daschle's partisan stonewalling won't be stopped until Republicans regain the majority in the U.S. Senate. Your help is needed to ensure our success in November and President Bush's ability to advance his agenda. All you need to do is sign the "Pledge for a Bush Majority at www.RegaintheMajority.com. Once you sign the pledge your name will be entered in a drawing that the NRSC is conducting for two tickets to the 2002 President's Dinner - a $5000 value - in June. The President's Dinner is a prestigious yearly event by the National Republican Congressional Committee (NRCC) and the National Republican Senatorial Committee (NRSC) honoring the President of the United States.

Sign Up to Be a GOP Team Leader!

Thousands of Team Leaders around the country are helping President Bush advance his agenda for America, while strengthening grassroots support for Republican candidates at all levels. By signing up as a volunteer Team Leader, you become the President's link to your community - working with friends, neighbors, local media and your elected officials to communicate support for President Bush and the Republican Party.
Well, I'd love to be a GOP team leader, but being a hardcore Democrat, i'm afraid i'd just destroy your party from within. Now, how did i, a hardcore democrat, get on the Republican Spam list? I'd like to think they are trolling for email address from the porn websites that constanly bombard me with email. Although going to the white house fundraiser would be cool, maybe i'll sign the petition anyway just to win tickets to go see the Prez. So when did political parties start spamming the net? will i get one from the Green party next? or the Socialists? Or that dude who keeps running for president while in jail? Why do i keep having to adjust my filters? Gah!!! yes, i know there is no swearing or feltching or masturbation rainbows in my post. This was just annoying, not rage burns like flaming daggers angry.

In 2000 I signed up to get on a Bush Campaign Trail Update list, thinking they would send me only little newsflash items about where Bush would be speaking, with maybe a link to a wire service article.

Instead I started getting Republican fund-raising e-mails similar to yours. *shiver* Don't know if this was their intent all along or if the campaign trail update thing just didn't pan out.

Heh, lest you think I was being partisan in my comment, Oblong, let it be known that while I am the Settee Sophy around these parts, I know full well who is the King of Pork.

My boss gets this stuff in the mail all the time. According to the Republicans, they are fighting a greater war against the Democrats than any war fought in the real world. The letters are peppered with phrases like "we face our greatest foes" and "The freedom of the American people is at stake", etc.

Does Democratic fund-raising propaganda read like this, too?

You need At&T's spam filters. They're so good, not even AT&T can get through to their own customers!

Hmm. I'm a Republican, and I only get spam for cheap toner, making money on eBay, and the odd porn site.

Go figure.

No, Democratic spam isn't nearly so Save the Republic from the Evil Empire as that. It's more along the lines of we must promote/stop program x, please call your senator, etc.

Yep, it looks to me like once again the Dems have beaten the Elephants to the technological punch. Now if you'll excuse me, I'm going to put three inches onto my penis on the government dime.

Sofa King, ROTFL!

As for the super-jingoistic nature of Republican spam, I really have to wonder if the recipients really believe that stuff. Laying it on a bit thick, ainnit?

I've been getting Republican Party spam the past few weeks. I find it enjoyable.

Because I'm Australian.

Well, look at the bright side, at least it's not physical spam. I get an autographed picture of Dubya in the mail at least once a week, along with a letter that tells me that the Republican Party doesn't want to lose such a 'valuable' member, and they appreciate me voting with them in the past.

Huh? I've never voted Republican, (not like I vote Democrat, either) and I have no intention on voting for someone just because they send me pretty pictures. I've tried sending stuff back to them, calling the local branch and asking them to remove my name, etc. Nothing helps.

I now own several "suitable for framing" pictures of Bush thanking me (personally!) for my support. Oh, and an official-looking stamp on the back that says "Authorized Presidential Portrait". If they're going to send me such a picture, they should make it at least somewhat flattering. Bush looks like he just bit down on one of those Red-Hot Fireball candies.
