Well, I am going to go against the grain and advise you to forget it's your damn b'day--that what I did this year, the worst year I have ever had. Remembering it was my b'day would have only made me more depressed. If your life sucks, you just have to deal with that the best you can. Like you (and Eve), my birthday was pretty crappy, on account of it's the anniversary of my mom's death. But we have a rule at my house that you may want to employ: Everyone gets the whole month for their birthday. People say happy birthday to you nearly every day. You can blow the diet, splurge on stuff, do aerobics in your underwear...whatever you want. And everyone has to give you a pass because it's your GIANT BIRTHDAY. So, even when I'm feeling blue because I'm missing my mom, I know I'll have other days to celebrate when I'm not feeling so low.
