Question about identifying the quality of an oral surgeon

Our daughter needs to have a couple teeth yanked prior to getting braces, and we're wondering if there's any standard way of ascertaining quality and qualifications of oral surgeons in our area?

My wife would like me to say "pulled" or "gently removed". She doesn't understand our ways. I've had teeth out. "Yanked" is the word.

Is there a reason to go to a full-fledged oral surgeon for this? Granted, they had to go in and remove my bottom wisdom tooth buds around the time I was getting braces so they just went ahead and removed the four teeth that had to go while I was asleep for that, but if your daughter likes and trusts your regular dentist, is there a reason he/she can't yank the teeth?

Oh, and yank is definitely the word. I'm pretty sure that's how I've always referred to extractions. Thankfully, those four plus my wisdom teeth were the only ones I've had, though I came close on a back molar!

Ask arround friends and neighbours. Do you work nearby? if so collegues could give you good and bad stories to help you decide. If all else fails, the best dentists allways look down in the mouth.
