I’ve grown accustomed to the usual problems of aging (short term memory loss, waking with strange pains in strange parts of my body) but my afflictions until now have not included a distorted time sense. However, the new topics in This Week’s Column, SD Classics and Cecil’s Mailbag which (I think) used to appear on a weekly basis ( Monday I recollect), have developed the annoying habit of showing up at all hours and days (I feel sure). For my peace of mind I have to know: have you guys changed the schedule for new material or should I maybe be thinking in terms of what kind of services I would like?

Ed gets to them as he can. Sometimes more promptly than others, depending on whatever's going on with him.

If it's a holiday, the site isn't updated. Other than that, This Week's Column is updated every Monday and SD Classics and Cecil's Mailbag is updated every weekday. At least, that's how I see it.

Are you refreshing the pages by any chance?

The "This week's column" is changed every week, but the Mailbag and the Classics are changed more frequently, and have been for as long as I've been here (about a year, counting sporadic lurking).

Well, hey, I was wondering about that, too (the schedule, not Ed's work habits). And dang it, JCG was right, it IS annoying, why, it means I have to keep checking the Home Page every day, just to make sure I don't miss anything! What are those Straight Dope rascals thinking of? They're just trying to get us to look at the Home Page, that's all. Come on, Ed, we need to keep a schedule going here, be a little more anal, OK?

Tuba, as long as you're apologizing for not running things according to our liking, how about an "I'm sorry" for not paying us 50 bucks just to log on, like the on-line casinos do, huh? Huh? How 'bout it? Huh?
