Domain checking solutions ?

Further to the recent discussion about checking the availability of domain names and then finding a couple of days later that what was previously available has mysteriously been snapped up when you check again.

Here are a couple of possible solutions.

The first is a script a guy put together to help people out - wondered if there were any scripting guys here who would have a view (I know nothing at all). Seems it only hits the Internic d/b. Right ?

This one pretty much speaks for itself. Don't know to much about it except one person saying they've used it for 6 months and nothing mysterious has happened to domains he's search for.
