Funny spam my wife got

Someone responded to an ad we placed in the Fort Worth Star-Telegram. Here is the response, unedited except for the email address:

Quote:
HELLO SELLER I'M AN AGENT PARTICULARLY,AND MY CLIENT IS INTERESTED IN PURCHASING OF YOUR ITEM.AND HE WILL BE PAYING YOU VIA CHECK/CASHIER CHECK ,I WOULD LIKE TO KNOW IF YOU WOULD BE ACCEPTING THIS MODE OF PAYMENT AS A PAYMENT METHOD.IF SO,PLS CONTACT ME WITH YOUR FULL NAME AND ADDRESS,PHONE NUMBER AND EMAIL ADDRESS IN ORDER TO FORWARD IT TO MY CLIENT SO THAT HE CAN GET THE CHECK ISSUED IN YOUR NAME.AND I'LL LIKE YOU TO UNDERSTAND THAT THE CHECK THAT WILL BE SENT TO YOU WILL INCLUDE THE SHIPPING COST TO UK,SO AFTER CASHING THE MONEY,YOU'LL HAVE TO DEDUCT THE MONEY FOR THE ITEM AND AFTER YOU MIGHT HAVE DONE THAT I'LL LIKE YOU TO TRANSFER THE EXCESS FUNDS TO ME VIA WESTERN UNION MONEY TRANSFER . TO MY CLIENT IN UNITED KINDGOM SO HE CAN ARRANGE FOR THE PICK UP OF THE ITEM QUESTION FOR YOU 1) SO CAN WE TRUST YOU ON THE EXCESS FUNDS WHICH IS TO BE WIRED. 2) ARE YOU A MAN OF YOUR WORDS. GET BACK TO ME AS SOON AS POSSIBLE.ON THIS EMAIL ADDRESS.TWOPEOPLESNAMES013@YAHOO.COM
Here's the funny part: it's in response to an ad we have for one of our rental houses. 3 bedrooms, 2.5 baths, 1600 square feet and 2-car garage are mentioned rather prominently in the ad.

I considered responding to the spammer (who is likely practicing some variant on the Nigerian 419 scam) to see how far I could take it, but as my wife sagely pointed out, we're not exactly anonymous and they'd have personally identifiable info on us.

At any rate, it gave us a good chuckle. I wonder what it costs to ship a 1600 square foot home from Fort Worth, USA to Somewhere Else, UK?

Heee!

Actually, as a fun exercise, I also wonder what the costs would run. I know house moving isn't cheap, and they do use barges when needed over bodies of water. So I'd presume the way to go would be to move the house to the closest suitable waterway and place it directly on the ship that'd take it across the Atlantic.

Wonder if any of the house moving businesses in your area would be willing to do an estimate for the hell of it, so they could have a laugh as well?

Probably more than it would cost to just build a new one.
