It's not only Chris Matthews (though he's the worst offender), but the two front-runners for the Pubbie nom often comically get their names mixed up by news commentators, newsreaders, analysts, and one level it's obvious why: they share oddball monosyllabic first names, beginning with the similar-sounding "M" and "N" and ending with a "T," and (less striking) they share somewhat unusual trochaic last names. So I propose just calling them both "Mute Zombie" and letting context determine which one is being discussed.

I like the image of some scary, silent dead entity lurching forward towards the nomination.

I wonder if, when the pundits pontificate about which of Romney or Gingrich will win the nomination, they're careful to phrase it as "Mitt or Newt?" rather than the reverse? Which appears to be what's happening, as it happens.
