Please click for the Animal Rescue Site Shelter Challenge

The Animal Rescue Site is once again having a fundraiser called the "Shelter Challenge". You can vote online for your favorite animal rescue organization. The winning organization will get a grant from Petfinder.com of $5,000. Winning organizations from each state, including the District of Columbia, will each get a $1,000 grant, as will the winning Canadian shelter, the winning international shelter, and winners for each week. Petfinder.com is sponsoring four of these this year, so they call it their $300,000 Challenge, although this round is "only" $75K.

Voting is free, web-based, and easy. Go the The Animal Rescue Site, click on their "Click Here to Give - It's FREE!" button. When the "Thank You" page finishes loading, look for the message "Help your favorite shelter win in our $300,000 Shelter+ Challenge." near the top, and click the "Vote Now!" button. You'll get to pick your shelter. You can search in your local area. Click the "vote" button for your shelter, enter the text for the CAPTCHA, and bobcat's you're uncle.

I vote for the Paulding Humane Society, Inc. in Dallas, GA since fellow Doper Quasimodem volunteers there, but the choice of any shelter in the world is yours. Voting started July 4th, and ends September 18th. You can vote once a day.

Please take a few moments from your day to support animal shelters. Thanks!!

I sought and received mod permission in advance for starting this thread.

I placed my vote with the Collie Rescue of the Carolinas where we just got our new collie boy last week. Here we are! We renamed him Serge.

Thanks for sharing this! I'm voting for the Red Door Animal Shelter in Chicago, a no-kill shelter that takes in dogs, cats, and rabbits.

Nice - I voted for the FACE clinic in Indy, where I rescued Toby from. But wow that is one really bad website!

Great choices, everyone - keep those clicks coming! Especially now that I've used up my one bump.

I voted for the http://www.petfinder.com/shelters/AZ32.html. That just happens to be the group I'm active with

Everyone, you can go back and click on the free food button every day. We've never won money from this place, but we have gotten food in the past.

Bumping my thread, with Mods permission. Another Shelter Challenge has started. Voting started yesterday, and ends April 28, 2013.

A total of 247 prizes, including $100,000 in grants, as well as prizes of vaccinations and pet beds in the U.S., will be given to eligible rescue organizations as part of this Shelter+ Challenge. The grand prize will go to the eligible Petfinder.com organization with the highest accumulative votes for the duration of the Challenge as specified in the rules.

It takes a little time to vote, and can help a shelter a lot! Thanks, everyone!

Thank you for the reminder. I visit and click to give free food, but I didn't realize they had started a new challenge. I voted for Olive Branch Animal Rescue & Refuge. They allowed me to adopt my sweet Zazzy.
