Facebook: Games and Timeline

[What the .... ?!?!]

Just curious about why Facebook and games are so intertwined..... do they make money from the companies who created the games? I've tried to eliminate all references to Games as best I can and for the life of me can't stop it from telling me about some of my friend game activity. I went thru the Hide procedure and as soon as I refreshed it came right back.


Also what's up with Timeline and how come I can't read certain stories or look at certain videos without "upgrading" to Timeline?
