Humor me. Play a little game. Give me a single digit number (0-9)
As soon as we have the right number of digits, I'll explain the game.

4, again. (I thought it up before I opened the thread if that matters.)
In piano, the index finger is finger number 2. Also medical terminology, "digitus secundus." But not on the guitar, where it's 1, at least on the left hand. On the right, it's known as I, which is the roman numeral for 1. So, split the difference, and call the index finger 1½. Last edited by RadicalPi; 05-19-2012 at 06:59 PM. |

Okay! Here's the deal. What we have here is a phone number 462-7948 (or 461-7948, either will work) and now we need anybody who wants to play to do a reverse lookup in your area code and find the SURNAME that goes with that number. Not the full name, just the last name. If we don't get any hits, then drop the first digit and add the next one to come in and try again.
Post those surnames for the next phase of the game. I see in preview we now have 5 and 0 to work with. |

As the next phase (keep those phone number surnames coming in, please) think of anybody you know personally with the last name among this list:
Cooley Harris Benfield Foster Ellender Give us the first name of your acquaintance with one of these names. Just the first name. I'll give two that come to mind immediately: Dennis Glenn Now, if you can see where this is going, the object is for this more-or-less random process to yield a relative of yours. Once we get that hit, just identify the relationship without giving the actual name of the relative. |

Let me just say that there are no combinations of ANY first names with ANY of these surnames that will get to any relatives of mine.
The closest I can get are some co-workers and such. |

To summarize the thread thus far, we have:
surnames Cooley Harris Benfield Foster Ellender first names Dennis Glenn Tim Ian Emma Crystal Kelley Please continue to supply surnames from the reverse phone lookup in your area code for phone numbers with these digits (in order): 4 6 1(or 2) 7 9 4 8 5 0 working left to right, 7 digits at a whack, until you find a surname/phone number match. Then look over the surnames list and supply the first name match to one (or more) of your non-relative acquaintances with that surname. Then look over the surnames and first names lists and see if you can match one of your relatives' first and last names. If you can make such a match, post the nature of the relationship to that relative. Don't supply the relative's NAME. Yes! Of course this is an honor system game! But I think it would be terrific if this random process actually worked. Carry on. And thanks for playing! |

Okay! But for this thing to work right, we're going to need matches (for the same relative) from both lists. That work for you yet?
