Yes. I'll be back to finish the round after I get some bed rest. But I have two days off so there's no excuses beyond mere sleep!

What, someone goes around admitting to their Chaotic/Evil-ness and all of a sudden they're considered scum?

You people are weird.

I also love the nicknames of the replaced-in players who had previous characters, o lovely mod-assistant MHaye.

They sound like movie sequels.

Inner Stickler II: The Legend of Curly's Gold.

Or how about Glee II: The Re-Glee-ening.
Contains 50% more glee.

Hmph. Light activity today. Sigh.... this is why I get sad about the game at times. It was intended for active people.

Yes, Astral is right, pizza. There's little point of talking when we're in limbo, waiting for the results.

It's a vicious circle. We're undermotivated to chat when it takes 48+ hours to learn the results of a Day's actions, and you're both too busy -- and apparently undermotived because we're not chatting -- to post the results.

But of the two sides, the greater onus is more on you, I'm afraid. The game movement is far more reliant on you than it is on us.

I reiterate my gentle suggestion that you add a moderator (maybe Mhaye?) and split the duties so things aren't so overwhelming.

I don't know what Guiri is on about but if he's trying to play mind games with us, and tarnish me while doing so, that's the scummiest move I've seen yet.

I feel like this needs to be pointed out: the original plan was 8 real-life days per Day/Night cycle.

I will need about 24 hours at the end of every phase just to calculate all the results of things and send everyone updates as to their status, then night phases are complicated as well and will require at least 3 days plus an update day. That's already 8 days per day/night cycle. I don't want to stretch it much longer than this.

Can we adapt to the shorter cycle, or must we extend it?
There have been 5 full cycles, and a sixth Day. That should be 44 real-life days. The game started 53 days ago. That means there have been 9 days of no gameplay scattered throughout the game. For town, since there's little point in discussing strategy during the night, there has been a staggering 29 days of relative inactivity.

While it's true that we have had a ridiculous number of dropouts, the very structure of the game hurts the involvement of the participants. I find it difficult to remember my leans when there are sometimes 5 or 6 days between playing the game.

I don't want you to feel like I'm attacking you or your game. I'm having fun, which means it was a success. I've been all kinds of paranoid throughout the game, which is perfect. The mechanics are delightful, varied, and interesting. The scum are playing a hell of a match. I'm just trying to address why our activity is sometimes lacking.

What I'm referring to is the number of folks who sent in actions; I'm aware the round is over. I'm not surprised the discussion quieted, that's expected. But given the long phases, you'd think people would have found the time to be active with day or night actions. What's killing my enthusiasm is that at any given point in the game, having even half of the players participate by sending in orders was unusual. That's odd considering there wasn't any role that had nothing to do.

While I appreciate and sympathize with your frustration (see pedescribe in my game), this is spoiled information town shouldn't be given by the moderator.

Perhaps they've weighed the odds and decided it was worth it to sacrifice an action if it meant they got the reveal sooner.

Hmph. It's a lot easier laughing at the comedy when your life's not put at stake!

Suffice it to say I agree with everything you've posted so far, Astral. As a writer of ineractive serialized fiction I am extremely sympathetic to pizzaguy's RL obligations getting in the way of his writing/gaming, and also to how frustrating it can be if an audience (or players in this case) aren't responding the way you want them to. But in the end, the best way to motivate one's audience is to produce content.

And as Inner says, it's possible that people are trying to take the load off pizzaguy by not performing actions. Like I said, it's a vicious circle. Even so, the one with the most power to encourage more activity is the game moderator.

I also find the slow reveals are hurting momentum. We have to build it back from scratch every phase.

I for one would really like it if you scheduled end of phase to coincide with when you actually have time to work on the game - i.e not while you're still at work, and also not for when you get home and need to sleep. 24 hrs is an odd time (and considerably less than the time it's actually been taking lately from memory) - people tend to have a sleep cycle once every 24, and factoring that into reveal time is not helping.

I also agree that appointing a co-mod would be worth the effort required to fill them in with all or part of the details. Would it be helpful to have someone collate actions and send them on, for instance, and perhaps respond to players? Then you could concentrate on reveals and colour and not the wading through admin? Also, having some motivated help might help you with your motivation!

Guiri nearly gave me heart failure, Pizzamod is complaining that we aren't playing! Hmmm.

I agree with Astral about the mod having to be the one to push the game forward if it stalls. I am having a lot of fun in this game too, it's one of the strangest ones I have played.

I don't know of a way to do that. You can go to specific pages, though, which will get you close.

Depending on your view, page 1 is posts 1 through 50, page 2 is posts 51 through 100, and so on. Using that, you can pretty quickly figure out what page you'll need and hop straight there.

Anyone else's browser or OS crash when viewing a YouTube video?

I was all set to post the results when it crashed on me. Everything's done and it will only take me about 10 minutes to rewrite it, but it is still really annoying.

It is the year 10,432...

It is the eleventh day of the sixth month.

It is said that love conquers all.... but not always.

Sometimes it's a tragedy, like Romeo and Juliet.

Blue Oyster Cult- Don't Fear the Reaper
All our times have come
Here but now they're gone
Seasons don't fear the reaper
Nor do the wind, the sun or the rain..we can be like they are
Come on baby...don't fear the reaper
Baby take my hand...don't fear the reaper
We'll be able to fly...don't fear the reaper
Baby I'm your man...

Valentine is done
Here but now they're gone
Romeo and Juliet
Are together in eternity...Romeo and Juliet
40,000 men and women everyday...Like Romeo and Juliet
40,000 men and women everyday...Redefine happiness
Another 40,000 coming everyday...We can be like they are
Come on baby...don't fear the reaper
Baby take my hand...don't fear the reaper
We'll be able to fly...don't fear the reaper
Baby I'm your man...

Love of two is one

Here but now they're gone
Came the last night of sadness
And it was clear she couldn't go on
Then the door was open and the wind appeared
The candles blew then disappeared
The curtains flew then he appeared...saying don't be afraid
Come on baby...and she had no fear
And she ran to him...then they started to fly
They looked backward and said goodby...she had become like they are
She had taken his hand...she had become like they are
Come on baby...don't fear the reaper

Fubbleskag didn't even notice them sneaking up on him, but when he did, it was too late to dodge a bolt fired at his chest.

"Ouch!"

Fubbleskag takes 100hp damage.

Severely wounded, it was all he could do to lift his scepter and shield himself from the assault.

Fortunately for him, a powerful spell, and then another, were completely deflected by the shield generated from his magical scepter.

Fubbleskag takes no damage.

Fubbleskag takes no damage.

Lord Phere unleashed demons from hell, and they attacked the group.

Many fought gallantly, but they were all over Choie and Gadarene.

"Ouch!" said Choie, bleeding everywhere.

Choie takes 150hp damage.

Gadarene pulled another one off of his helm, but was scratched up pretty badly.

Gadarene takes 125hp damage.

GuiriEnEspana was about to be attacked, but Lightfoot stepped in and blocked the blow. She took the brunt of the hit, but deflected some of it.

"Never fear! I am here to save you from Phere!"

Lightfoot takes 75hp damage.

Scathach was completely surrounded by demons, and eventually, Phere finished her off, and the demons ate her flesh.

"My beloved Charlie.... soon, I will be with you. Forever, my love."

Scathach is slain by Lord Phere.

The Aftermath:

Scathach
was dressed in the finest armor money could buy, this was the kind worn by the most powerful knights of the Templar order. They were tasked with guarding what is most sacred, so therefore they were given superior armor. Scathach was a Templar Knight.

Nothing particularly unusual about her armor, but when they checked out her quarters they found the other half of the correspondence with Gnarlycharlie. It seemed that they were lovers, trapped in a melee and unable to extract themselves from it. Scathach was not particularly enthusiastic about warfare, but would do anything for her beloved.

Reading further, they found that Scathach's heart was torn to pieces when Gnarlycharlie was slain. The wounds ran so deep that she forgot all about the Kingdom of Parma, or their mission, and their allies. She no longer cared about law, or morality... she was only concerned with surviving long enough to avenge the death of her fallen lover.

That vengeance was not to be.

In spite of her almost spotless track record, it seemed that one event was enough to push her over the edge. They were forced to conclude that, indeed, she had turned Evil by the end. She was an Evil Adventurer.

Begin "The Sixth RETREAT"
(Night Six)

OOC:
Night Six has begun.

You may continue to discuss your situation. You may Askthepizzaguy any game-related questions you might have, please bold and green if you wish the response to be OOC and from the game host.

Holy crap, OUCH is right.

Pizza wasn't kidding when he said few people sent in actions. I can think of at least one person who didn't do what s/he said s/he was gonna do, as my bleeding wounds can attest. And a grand total of three attacks on Fubbles, one of which (the unsuccessful magic one, courtesy of that Emerald ring) was mine.

So not including the Phere actions (the targets of which don't surprise me), that's three attacks and one protection. (Good job, LightFoot!) But what the hell else were the rest of you up to Today?

re: End of Night... well, I don't mind the time, as long as it works for pizza, but the day? Saturday? Do we need five-day long Nights? Or is that the best day for you too, pizza?

I voted for Scathach and to acquire the Black Bracer.
I forgot to attack Fubbleskag, although I did PM Scathach and learn stuff:

- Scathach just turned Evil last time
- anyone Evil learns of a special Evil 'possession' (it's not a bow, sword or helm etc), which affects your chances of winning
- neutrals can win

Looking at the casualty reports, I conclude that Weedy was Scum, but that Visorslash and Scathach changed alignments.
I don't know if turning Evil puts you in contact with Scum, but I would say not. After all, you could change back and reveal the Scum (who are presumably fixed in alignment...
So presumably Evils can win somehow.

Pizza, I know we asked for an incredibly complicated game and that your life is busy.
But I echo choie's question about having to wait until Saturday for night to end. (It's hard to maintain interest and concentration in a game with nearly 3,500 posts (plus PM's) when Town have no action to take for several days.)

Also, are we due PM's from you about promotions?

Well, we knew Scathach was for the chop, and that she was evil, so that's not surprising.

Since we aren't getting final voting tallies from pizza, we have no idea whether there were any extra votes (in particular the triple vote, but also any new Knights or whoever the heck else can get an extra vote).

There were two unsuccessful magic attacks on Fubbles. Unless you're claiming credit for both, I've a pretty confident guess about who the other unsuccessful Attacker was.

I explained, more than once, why we should have Lynched Fubbles yesterDay, and used our Attacks against Scathach. Would it have helped if I'd used a larger font size.

Vote: Fubbleskag

Vote: Hammer to End Day

Where did I say I was taking credit for both? If you know, or think you know, who the other magic attacker was, feel like sharing with the class?

Yeah, good luck with that. Should pizza, glee and I have used a bigger font when we all mentioned that it is NIGHT TIME NOW? How exactly did you miss that considering we JUST got the lynch results now, and you even commented on it?

So you didn't bother attacking fubbles since you decided to waste your lone vote on him despite the fact that the vast majority were voting to lynch Scathach?

What did you do last Night?

If you guys really want, I can end night sooner than that. I'm just trying to give time to discuss and plan out things and send in actions.

If you feel it won't be put to good use, then it's wasted time and we'll advance it sooner.

I would rather end Night earlier rather than later.
