Good Mornin' Y'all! Up and caffienatin'. *YAWN* 'Tis 63 Amurrkin out with a predicted high of *only* 87. How positively frigid! Should make for some nice late mornin'/early afternoon hang at the pool time. Of course, the big item on today's agenda is attendin' the Ordination Service for our new Deacon. YAY!!!

Rosie I've already begun my Christmas wishlist after checkin' out that site.

Look it's rigs! Howdy rigs!

gotti here's hopin' for a not a sloppy housebuildin' day.

LiLi not only is CatDude comin', he apparently expects you to make dinner.

Now I need me some more caffiene and rumbly tummy wants to be fed. Would it be rude of me to fry bacon (completely clothed thankyouverymuch) bein' as OYKW is sawin' logs?

ETA: First on Four!

Happy Sattidy Y'all!

Blurf. Very late blurf.
Feeling all rotten and not very well today; have a sore throat, and didn't wake up until nearly 2pm. Have to go shopping in a bit though, 'cos there's no food in the house, and what with the plethora of bank holidays, the local shop isn't going to be open again until wednesday. Anyone want to come over and do it for me, so I can spend the day hiding under the covers?

By the way, my Grandpa's neighbours once broke into his house and washed the curtains... without leaving a bill.

Howdy Y'all! In from the pool. My head is all stuffy-like so I decided it would be a good thing to not stay outside. N.O.L., beer brats with peppers and onions and chips was really good! I loves me soom beer brats.

Mayhaps I shall have a nappy poo so I can be well rested for the big Ordination. What? Sittin' in a pew for a couple of hours can be very exhaustin'.

Good morning everyone. I was up and out the door by 7:15 this morning to get my hair done. I've just returned from that and now my hair looks good again.

I'm glad the grad went well, ems, and that everyone survived without any additional holes in their bodies.

No mud today. It is a neat process though - HFH is building an entire neighborhood, so everyone living there has had a hand in building their home and they all know each other. I met one guy who got his house three years ago and still volunteers to build his neighbors' homes.

The house were were working on most of today was very close to done. The homeowner-in-progress will be moving in on July 1, and the house was pretty much down to install the thermostat, patch up the various little dings in the walls and bring in the kitchen appliances. We installed blinds and doorknobs, for the most part. Once we finished that, we moved over to the next house and put up the insulating Styrofoam on the outer walls and tar paper on the roof. Next week, some other gang of volunteers will be siding and shingling.

Good afternoon! It's break time and I thought I should say hi.

Hi! With an extra HOWDY to rigs!!

I slept in on a lovely cool morning - it's still nice and cool out. I was having a very bizarro dream about going back to summer camp - bizarro because I've never been to summer camp, not counting boot camp, which I did in the summer. The strange part was that my "memories" of the place were very specific - where we ate, where we lived, who my various roomies were. It was disturbing enough that when I woke up, I had to think really hard about whether I'd actually gone to camp and had just forgotten it. Nope, never went to camp. Weird...

We went to breakfast (Bob Evans in California doth well and truly sucketh lately) and made a quick stop at Lowe's but they didn't have what my sweetie was looking for. When we came home, I made a batch of burger patties, set aside 2 for today, and froze the rest. I fed the fish and saw 4 of the 5 n00bs that we got yesterday - I don't know if #5 is shy or dead.

Then I spent a couple of hours in my studio playing in clay. It seemed to take another hour to clean up - what a messy hobby! I also hauled some stuff from the garage to the basement for FCD - he's installing some cabinets and storage bins. And when I was all done, I discovered that I'd put on my new brown loafers instead of my ratty old ones, so my new ones were covered in clay and crud. They're clean now - fortunately, I didn't do any damage. And I just now found my old ratty loafers under this desk.

Not sure what I'm going to do now - I may take a break then go back down to play. Or not. It's not like I have a schedule or anything. I love being retired.

Happy Saturday!

About two hours ago, I had brunch: almonds, raisins, and milk . . . in the guise of a Cadbury bar. Could that be way I am so hungry now?

Rosie your brunch was so nutritious I can't imagine why it didn't stay with ya. Perhaps you should have eaten two of 'em.

gotti how cool! I've participated in a couple of those neighborhood builds. I say that if somebody is lookin' to get in on a HforH build a neighborhood build is a great first one. All that energy and excitement will get ya hooked on HforH for sure. Plus a neighborhood is really a lot of fun. Heh. I am about as unhandy as they come so it always amazes me at some of the stuff I "assist" with at a build. Ok, this has turned into a commercial for HforH, so, Mumpers if any of you have ever considered volunteerin' for a build, I say do go volunteer. You won't regret it, I guarantee.

Ok, we's all purtified for the big Ordination. Suits and ties even! Gonna go head out so''s we can scope out a good parkin' space and pew. Both are very important you know.

Laterz!

I killded the MMp again!

Howdy Y'all! Home from the Ordination service. The service was very moving. The music, oh, the music, it was just indescribably incredible! The combined choirs of good ol' St. Pat's and St. Paul's were like listenin' to a choir of angels. YP delivered yet another one of his great sermons. Heh. St. Paul's is between Priests at the moment. Several members of St. Paul's commented on how good YP's sermon was. I told YP that based on those comments I had to do some damage control by way of explanain' that, that particular sermon was more of a fluke because his sermons are not usually that good. He told me that was one of the sorta kinda maybe I'm not real sure nicest compliments he had ever received. Oh and at the reception the munchies were over the top teh nummy and, in accordance with true Episcopal tradition, the wine flowed freely.

A good time was had by all. Plus, Joy is now our Deacon for real! YAAAAAAAAAAAY!!!!!!

I finally decided to eat the leftovers from last night's Good Chinese. I guess raisins, almonds, and milk just wasn't enough for the whole day.

My house is almost completely clean!! I can start showing it now!! Yay!

Baked chicken with stuffing, mashed N.O.T., corn & stewed tomatoes. Not bad for a single guy.

I've been feeling off this week. I view it as medicine.

Oh, and after nearly 14 weeks they finally fixed my flaming work truck in time for the day of crazy weather here in the MidAtlantic yesterday.

Man I love a weekend off...

I got a present I never thought I'd receive again.

This morning, I called my mom and while she was talking to her, my dad asked to talk to me.

My dad wanted to talk to me.

He couldn't track the conversation really well, but he asked me how I was doing and if I was going to see the transit of Venus in Dallas, and he laughed. He was happy. He told me he loved me.

Apparently, Mom talked to his doctor and got his dosage of Seroquel adjusted. She said it's made a huge difference.

I thought I would never hear my father tell me that he loved me again. Please excuse me while I happy cry.

Hooray for kanga!

I'm all excited now. Richalds and I rented a U-Haul and went to Le Monte Noir to pick up a pop-up camper he's working on. We took it down to Faux British Redneck Town where he lives. Thus followed the adventure of backing up the trailer. The adventure ended in bitter failure, so we took it down to a repair shop that's going to replace a cable so the top pops up properly again. Then we were going to get the giant bed that I kinda sorta promised to my current roommates.

Protip: King-size mattresses do not fit in the bed of an F-150. Giant bed is still in Faux British Redneck Town. I'm going to tell Roommates that Richalds is now custodian of the bed and if they want it, get in touch with him. He will insist that they haul it out themselves and will not assist other than opening the shed door. He's sick of Clown's bs too.

Twin bed is now set up in Stately Agony Aunt Manor and we only went 10 over what we thought on the truck mileage. Had to spend $20 on gas to get the needle back to where it was. Still better than the fuel surcharge would have been. Richalds thinks Stately Agony Aunt Manor is awesome. The living room has teal walls (and shelves on the wall!!), the fridge is tiny (and currently defrosting), the bathroom door is hung wrong (you have to close the door to turn on the light), and the bedroom has all kinds of crazy angles that I'm not sure what to think of. The bed may be moved a few times before I find a place I like to keep it. He also opened the escape hatch* and found....

A WASHER AND DRYER RIGHT THERE IN THE BACK OF THE CLOSET!

I don't have to go to the laundromat!

There was also a suspicious-looking cable hanging from the ceiling in front of The One Window. A cable that might--just might--be an internet connection. I don't know if it would reach my computer from its current angle, though. My hiatus may be shorter than I thought.

Good vibes from this place I have. As did Richalds, and I trust his instincts.

So now I have most of my stuff packed except what's in the kitchen. I'm doing laundry tomorrow, folding clothes, and heading out. Richalds is going to help me move my furniture and I'll pick up my stuff from Computer Boy's place and I'll be in like Flynn. Then comes the unpacking. The unpacking....

*When Landlord was showing me the place, he said the door in the back of the bedroom closet was there in case there was god forbid a fire and someone needed to get out the back. It leads into a storage area. He may have said something about the washer/dryer then, but I don't remember.

Good Mornin' Y'all! Up and caffienatin'. *YAWN* 'Tis 64 Amurrkin out with a predicted high of 94 for the day. Hawt and hyooomid. Already hyooomid even.

kanga fantastic! Do all the happy cryin' you want.

Spaz yay for washer and dryer! Happy movin'. Again, I'm glad it's you and not me.

gigity and doggio your culinary skills are impressive.

Today is brunch Sunday over to the church house. I made a chikin pasta sallit, which is pan seared boneless chikin breasts chunked up, a box of spiral shaped pasta all cooked up, green olives and chunked up mozarella all mixed together with a bottle of Eyetalian dressin'. Sometimes I use ranch dressin' cause I'm all rebel like. It's a good and simple recipe. Also, I made three gallons of tea, one sweet and two unsweet cause I'm nice.

Now I need more caffiene and rumbly tummy wants to be fed. Then I must purtify for deheathenization. I need to be there early because we have a meetin' of our committee formed to meet with the Lutherans next week after church. Since it is a N.O.L. meetin' food must be finalized among other things. I lead such an excitatin' life do I not.

Happy Sunday Y'all!

Yay, Kanga!!

Yay, Spaz!!

Feel better, tugig!!

And good morning, everyone else! It's gloriously cool and clear, and the house has been open sans a/c for more than 24 hours. Last night was great sleeping, but I wish I'd grabbed the afghan. I get really chilly when I sleep, then I wake up. So when I woke the first time, I had to get the extra cover.

Psycho Taz has decided he likes sleeping in the top of my closet. That means my sweaters and sweatshirts are full of cat hair. It also means I'm likely to wake up to a pile of shirts on the floor - he climbs from the top of the door to the hanging clothes to the shelf, and he invariably knocks some of the hanging clothes down. Stoopit cat!

I think today is paint-the-tool-cabinets day. It shouldn't take too long. I hope. Beyond that, I'll just wing it.

Happy Sunday - yoiks - it's my MIL's b-day - gotta get spousal unit to call his mom. She's 81 today!!

Blurf.

Went to see New Model Army last night, awesome gig! Came home and watched a film, then sat around talking and playing music until the sun came up. That's what weekends are all about.

Now I has a blurf. Luckily I do not have to do anything much today apart from a bit of ironing and make dinner tonight. The rest is, well, a day of rest. I foresee a large amount of time spent on the sofa...

Mornin' all. We had a great time with our friends last night.

I plan on doing nothing more than getting things done around the house. I don't want to go anywhere. I have been neglecting some chores and they need to be done.

Spaz, I'm glad things are moving along and you will soon have a new place to live. Score on the washer/dryer!

phouka, I'm so glad your Dad seems to be doing a little better. I hope the meds can keep him on an even keel for a good while longer.

General question - is restaurant service going downhill a lot lately or are we just having terrible luck? Yesterday at breakfast, we never did see our server - the manager took our drink orders, then took our meal order, then we never saw anyone ever again - even after I asked someone in passing for a drink refill that I never got. Heck, we had to chase down our bill.

Then today, we went to Denny's and it really sucked. When our server brought most of our breakfast, she said the pancakes would be out shortly. Not only did they never materialize, neither did she! We asked the woman cleaning the table next to ours to please find our server. She went looking for her twice! When she finally showed up, we said we wanted our bill adjusted since we never got our pancakes - it amounted to $1.65 for two orders - she said the manager wasn't there and all they could do was give us 10% off. We got the same story at the register. Sunday morning at breakfast, and no manager on duty? Seriously??

I just got finished firing off two emails - I doubt that it'll do any good, but at least I got it off my chest. I was so pissed, I didn't even tip either time - and I'm usually pretty generous, since I consider waiting tables to be a not-so-great way to make a living as far as work-to-pay ratio. Anyway, grrrrrrrrrr!!

Other than that, I just cleaned the kitchen. It's a beautiful day and I may go futz around outside for a while. I should probably thaw something for supper - maybe a hunk of salmon...

It's been a lovely, lazy day. Supper was grilled cheese for me and grilled peanut butter for my sweetie. Tomorrow, I'm going to bake up a batch of twice-baked N.O.T.s early while it's cool out - I love having them available in the freezer for quick dinners.

Tomorrow, our front lawn gets done, too. Yay!!

Tonight, I shall continue to crochet - I'm almost done all the squares for another afghan. Next time I go to my mom's, I'll have a couple of bags of stuff for distribution, altho the hats will sit till autumn. No biggie...

I think it's time to don my robe and assume the comfy recliner position!

I'm home! Well, I've been home for a couple of hours or so. Suitcase is on a flight from Houston, I hope. I had basically zero time between making it through customs and getting to the gate. Got there and saw that the doors were closed and my heart sank. But the kind desk person opened the door to check whether I could still get on and, indeed, I could! Yay!

Otherwise I would have been on my luggage's flight, which is supposed to be in around midnight.

Had a marvelous time, although there were tornadoes on Friday (there are NEVER tornadoes in Mexico City). Little baby ones, but still, messy. Will add stuff in the next MMP. Am going to bed now.

Have skimmed, but not retained much, except that CatDude is going to take care of LiLi's kids during his vacation.

Hugs all.
