I've seen a handful of stickers for Romney and Obama both, but nary a yard sign for either yet.

I'm surprised by this. Reading the OP called my attention to the fact that I've seen very little of such material for either Obama or Romney, here in urban Southern California--almost as reliably Democratic as Utah is Republican. I suspect most of the boots-on-the-ground campaigning will take place in the battleground states since the vote from states like CA and UT is probably already locked up.

Oh, I didn't know precisely where in PA Doylestown was, though I did know it was further East than Pittsburgh. I was more latching on to the fact that someone else mentioned PA beforehand and using Doylestown as a comparison.

I'm in Northern VA too and I've seen a bunch of Romney stickers - and last week a group of people with anti-Obama signs standing outside the local Obama office. Fortunately, the Obama people are already out knocking on doors to make sure everyone is registered to vote and knows their polling place. They knocked on my door over a month ago. It'll be nice to join them in getting out the vote once my back heals.

Saw my first Romney bumper sticker a couple days ago (Central Iowa), no yeard signs yet. Sticker was pretty unispired - just "Romney 2012". Probably holding out until there is a Veep to add excitement.

Romney Yard Signs

But NOTHING for Romney.

How about in other areas? Is the whole country free of Romney stickers and signs?

I live in Detroit and am a conservative I have my own Romney Bumper sticker and have seen many and I mean MANY Obama bumper stickers however I have seen no presidential Yard Sign I have thought about just buying my own. Maybe that would get more people out to do what we need to do to get this election right.

I know that if I see enough Romney yard signs and bumper stickers, I will certainly vote for him.

I can see his campaign slogan already:

Mitt Romney: A name you can trust saw on a yard sign in 2012!

I'm in the Tampa Bay area and the only thing I've noticed is my neighbor's anti-Obama signs. But I too, if I see enough Romney/More Exciting Running Mate, may think about purchasing a bumper sticker.

I'm in the middle of a Tea Party area, so no Mitt signs. A couple Ron Paul signs (bless their hearts). Putting an Obama sign or sticker would be the same effect as a "please vandalize me" sign.

I'm still not seeing many yard signs one way or the other. Fair number of Obama bumper stickers and a fair number of Romney bumper stickers. I'd say the bumper sticker contest is a draw so far.

I definitely see more Obama stickers than Romney stickers. The Obama stickers are usually from 2008, though. The only yard signs though are the Vote NO on the marriage amendment signs. I think I'ma get me one of the t-shirts since I don't have a lawn.

New England. A few Romney yard signs, even fewer bumper stickers.

He is not at all popular in Massachusetts; they feel duped, dumped, and deeply embarrassed.

No Obama yard signs, but a fair number of bumper stickers.

the reason

The reason you might not see Romney stickers is because on the last election, liberals were vandalizing cars and homes who had McCain stickers on them..at least in my city.. you would hear lots of stories about it on the news about that, but I never heard a single story on any liberals having their cars or homes vandalized for having an Obama sticker.

So, people are just afraid of the same thing happening again to their cars and houses...I would be...and I am!

It's a good strategy in my opinion..a great way of trying to shut people up who tried to express who they support.

Where do you live? Here in the Cincinnati area, there were TONS of McCain/Palin stickers last time. I never heard about any of them being defaced.

I've seen some Romney stickers since I wrote the OP, but it's still in the single digits. I still see more Ron Paul stickers.

Maybe, now that the Republican convention is over, there will be more. But for now, either people in this area are totally uninspired by Mitt, or they haven't distributed stickers yet. My money's on the former.

I for one wish to thank magdiel1975 for having the courage to speak up in this bastion of liberal groupthink. One hopes that the PTB don't notice this and drop the banhammer for this egregious violation of board dogma.

I just happened to find this blog on a google search I did..I saw the question and decided to give my opinion.

Honestly, all politicians are dirty in their own ways, so it comes down to get rid of the lesser evil.

Libs complained so much about Bush's spending, and yet they are quiet about Obama's spending over 5 Trillion in less than 1 term...that's more than all the presidents in the history of the US COMBINED!... why are the libs not complaining about that?

All they do is blame Bush..and say Obummer inherited a mess.. Firefighters inherit messes too... but you don't see them adding gasoline to it!

We gave the guy the chance to fix it or at least make it better... he clearly has failed, so we need to give that chance to another guy... Romney was not my first choice, but he has definitely more experience on how to manage and fix the economy than Obama. I came from a communist country, so I know how socialism and communism work... IT DOES NOT WORK... I WILL NOT VOTE FOR ANYONE WHO HAS THE SLIGHTEST SMELL OF SOCIALISM ON THEIR TRAIN OF THOUGHT!

I came to this country to be free and to get away from a controlling government who would tell me how and when to do things...

I came to this beautiful country to prosper and to work hard to get what I want...instead of having to depend on the government... I despise the idea of the government taking from others to give it to me... I WANT TO WORK AND EARN WHAT IT HAVE!

That's why I am a conservative... I don't like hand-outs!.. had plenty of handouts in my country.

Obama's discretionary spending is not particularly high, especially considering the government is picking up slack from a gigantic recession. Certainly I'm concerned about the growth of entitlement spending, but that's Congress' fault, not Obama's.

Welcome to the forum. You should familiarize yourself with the rules here: you can't insult other posters unless you are in The BBQ Pit forum. Your posts are also kind of off-topic here. Please try to stick to the subject of this particular thread. Your other concerns about Obama would do better in another discussion.

I had my car vandalized for having an Obama sticker. I put the sticker on the inside of my rear windshield. One day I was getting in my car at the end of the work day, and some dweeb had written SUCKS in magic marker over my Obama sticker. I'm really glad I didn't have the sticker on my bumper, that would have been harder to clean off. As it was I just needed a little window cleaner and my sticker was visible again.

I don't like people, vandalizing signs. It's petty and unconvincing. But it did happen to me. It was unconvinced by the graffitist's "argument".

You make, or more likely repeat, a claim that liberals want to shut the opposition up. Yet is was the Republicans who said from 2001 until 01/20/2009 that saying anything against the President was treason. It was the Republicans who started the "Why do you hate America" meme. It was the Republicans who publicly questioned the loyalty of those who disagreed with them, and used that in an attempt to coerce said opposition into silence. My post is another citation.

If you don't like Obama's policies or his personality - fine, go and vote for the Rombot. Please stop repeating falsehoods about me and my motives. You're new here, you don't even know me.

WOW! The Republicans control the House of Representatives by 241 to 191 seats. There are 51 Democrats in the Senate plus two Independents who caucus with them. While this gives them a technical majority you may have noticed that the Republicans has been filibustering pretty much everything they disagree with, and the Democratic Caucus does not have the votes to override the filibusters.

So the statements that the "Democrats run Congress" and that "if anything passes or not, it's because of the Democrats" are patently false.

Firstly, it's spelled "Obama". You seem to being having some difficulty there. And secondly, Obama is a moderate corporatist. He's about as socialist as Ronald McDonald.
Quote:

You are a true wit. Let's look at your other post:
Quote:
Libs complained so much about Bush's spending, and yet they are quiet about Obama's spending over 5 Trillion in less than 1 term...that's more than all the presidents in the history of the US COMBINED!... why are the libs not complaining about that?
Because it's not true. At best, you're counting "debt increase" as "spending" when they include the effects of decreased revenue due to both the recession and various tax cuts. At worst, you're using incorrect numbers. Come back with some figures and we'll talk.
Quote:
All they do is blame Bush..and say Obummer inherited a mess.. Firefighters inherit messes too... but you don't see them adding gasoline to it!
Firefighters also don't often have to deal with the arsonists chucking Molotov cocktails at them while they try to fight the fire either. This analogy is fun.
Quote:
We gave the guy the chance to fix it or at least make it better... he clearly has failed, so we need to give that chance to another guy... Romney was not my first choice, but he has definitely more experience on how to manage and fix the economy than Obama.
Does he? What experience is that? Romney's experience is in making money for himself, sometimes with unpleasant consequences for others. Some of his successes, such as running the Olympics, have been due to those government handouts the GOP regularly denounces ($410 million IIRC). I'm not seeing any evidence that he could manage an economy.
Quote:
I came from a communist country, so I know how socialism and communism work... IT DOES NOT WORK... I WILL NOT VOTE FOR ANYONE WHO HAS THE SLIGHTEST SMELL OF SOCIALISM ON THEIR TRAIN OF THOUGHT!
I live in a socialist country and the people here love it. And again, nothing Obama has proposed is remotely socialist. One would have thought that with your experience you would have seen that.

Welcome to the Board. We like facts. Bring some and we will be happy to discuss.

ETA: Bah. Just saw the Mod note. Bring facts to a different thread instead.

It's still early, but there are a few Romney/Brown/Tisei signs around here -- North Shore Boston. Lots of conservatives around here -- the towns are small, once very rural, somewhat religious, and full of the older blue collar working types who consider a Nobama bumper sticker the height of hilarious political discourse. The Tisei signs (he's running for Congress, I guess) are bigger, more numerous, and I suspect we'll all be heartily sick of them by November.

Funnily enough, I could find three cites for Republican candidate's signs being vandalised.

Only this for the Dems.

Edit: Really Not All That Bright, which entitlements would you like to cut?

By the way magdiel1975, which country did you come from? Were you aware of the Social Security program, Medicare, Medicaid and TANF? I believe your ideal country is Somalia, not the US.

I think that's a bit outside the scope of a thread about bumper stickers.

He hasn't posted since being mod-noted so don't expect a response.

Romney vs Obama

I live in Portland which leans left. In 2008 there were lots of McCain yard and bumper stickers. As of this morning, I haven't seen one Romney anything, any where. Is the GOP doing its job?

I live in one of the few true swing states (albeit in a very blue part of it) and I just began seeing a few Obama bumper stickers. No yard signs, and not a single Romney sign of any kind. I saw tons of McCain signs last time around, and I used to see Birther stuff all the time, thanks to a popular local morning radio host.

The commercials, though...

If the Republican SuperPacs are really planning on "carpet-bombing" the swing states with ads, all it's going to do is piss everyone off.

I live in a relatively affluent suburb in Columbus, Ohio. I have seen no Romney signs, although one of my neighbors has a Josh Mandel (R Senate candidate running against Sherrod Brown). There aren't many yard signs yet at all, though. Obama bumper stickers outnumber Romney by about 10 to 1. We have a lot of government and higher education workers.

I live in Bosda's neck of the woods and I've recently begun seeing a few Romney bumper stickers. Nothing like the McCain ones last cycle. There's one pick-up truck where I work that has "Romney" written on the back window in what appears to be white shoe polish though for about the last month. I have yet to see a Romney yard sign.

Oddly enough, I've been seeing (as well as sporting) Obama stickers and signs for several months now.

A Missourian, I see.

Here in the safely Republican Second Congressional District, there are relatively few yard signs for anyone. Of course, it's still only September, but things are definitely on a slower pace than 2008.

The word is that the Democrats conceded Missouri months ago and they just aren't putting resources into it. There's little advertising on local TV for either Obama or Romney, and at this point, there isn't even that much advertising for the governor or Senate races.

I'll bet most of the Romney stickers are on corporate jets and limos.

My husband drives through 2 counties every day to work, both of them conservative strongholds: not a single Romney sign. (He hasn't been looking for bumper stickers.) My mother lives in a small conservative city and hasn't seen any Romney signs in her travels through town. My neighboring farmers whose field corners are always filled with gigantic Republican candidate signs have not a single Romney sign. I've even looked to see if they were sneaking in Ron Paul signs, but nope, nothing related to the presidential race at all.

My guess is that the Republicans are going to try the old "Patrick Duffy had a dream" gambit and try to sneak Chris Christie onto the ballot.

I live on a street with a huge income range: there's a house which is basically falling down, and another which was purchased a year ago for three million. There are two Romney signs on our street- in front of the two most expensive houses.

Perhaps you'll be converted by osmosis.

Here in the Lansing MI area, I see Romney stickers only occasionally. I haven't seen any of his yard signs. To be fair, I've seen fewer Obama '12 stickers than in '08, and haven't seen any yard signs of his either. I guess it's a bit early for yard sign season. A lot of people wait till mowing season is over so they don't have to work around them or move them.

I haven't seen any presidential yard signs at all here in Connecticut. There are a few state senate signs, but they're not wrapping themselves in the Party colors and co-endorsing the presidential candidate. I haven't seen any local election signs, although there may be nobody up for election.

I see plenty of anti-Obama stickers. I think i have seen one our two bumper stickers for Romney. No signs for either, except for three Obama/Biden soon in my yard. I live on an area that is very evenly split.

I live in a more-liberal-than-not city (Raleigh) in a slightly pinkish state (NC). I've seen two Romney signs in our neighborhood, belonging to next door neighbors. These two homes were also the hosts of some of the only "Yes to the Amendment" (the Constitutional Amendment banning gay marriage & civil unions) signs in our neighborhood last Spring.

I haven't seen any Obama yard signs, but tons of bumper stickers. Only a few Romney bumper stickers.

Not sure what any of that means. I do feel like my liberal friends are pretty enthusiastic and the other day, when I was taking a walk wearing my '08 Obama t-shirt, I had an elderly couple cross the street to come tell me that they'd signed up to volunteer at the Obama campaign office. They were super excited and we chatted about polls for a minute.
