So is Luann about to lose her virginity?
Or will she get busted by her parents first?
Either way,

Nah. Just as they really start to get into it, Puddles will disappear and they'll spend the next two weeks looking all over the neighborhood for him before they come back to the house to find him hiding in a closet.

Sorry, I can only concentrate on one Teenage Mutant Comic Babe at a time. At the moment I'm more fixated on Hilary from Sally Forth.

If I had my druthers, I'd say they skip to the parents coming home, whatshisface already gone and Luann acting a bit befuddled and suspicious.

Don't think so, they haven't even managed to get Brad & Toni into bed yet.
And I vote for the parents coming home. SS |

Wow. I completely missed the evolution of Luann. The Luann I remember is the second from the left. When did all this happen?!?

That's kind of a weird pose on the bed in that last frame. They look like they're lying on their backs, side by side. Are they awkwardly making out? Is this a cut forward to the aftermath? Did they spontaneously die from that kiss?

Luann is what, 25-30 years old?

It is a family comic strip, and the character is a minor, so I doubt very much that the results will be blatantly spelled out. I kinda suspect the box with the two of them lying on the bed is all there will be.

As for Luann getting 'hot' and being 30 years old or so, the characters do age in the strip. But I believe it's at about 1/4 the rate of real-time. I think Evans has been stretching it lately. B-wad moved out and got a job and a girlfriend, but Luann seems to be held back a year or two to stay a teen.

To me Luann is seizing an opportunity. Aaron Hill is in Hawaii; Gunter is and will always be a nerd, Elvis is just a little kid who happens to have a zillion dollars, and Quill is right here and now. Looks to me like she'll take the chance.

As long as they don't start doing the 9 Chickweed Lane hand jive...
They're going to get caught, by the way, because Luann is an idiot who can't tell time. She thinks she has three hours (at least!) before her parents get home, but they're only supposed to be gone from 10:00 until noon. Only two hours. |

I say to Luann, the comic strip, the same thing I say to TV and movies when they tease at doing something dramatic and controversial, story-wise:
*ahem* "You don't have the stones." |

Luann started out around age 13 or so and has progressed in comic strip time to a high school senior, maybe 17+. Along the way she lost the baby fat and at one point got her hair straightened:
Before After So yeah she's definitely not the ugly duckling anymore. (BTW: my favorite fanwank of that strip is that Luann and Tiffany have a repressed lesbian obsession with each other- it's like they're each other's alter-egos.) |

It's also kinda obvious in how pissed Brad got when the munchkin disappeared and ruined his and Toni's "together time." He wouldn't have been that smoked if all he missed was blue balls.

What, the hot lesbian action from a couple of weeks ago wasn't enough for you?
Looking at the whole week's strips, it's clear Luann was planning a seduction and certainly intends to do something she wouldn't do if her parents were home. But given that Luann is a relatively inexperienced teenager, it seems rather an abrupt transition from "just friends" to "going all the way." In that last panel, I can't tell whether they're proceeding to make out, or whether that one kiss was so overwhelming that it knocked them out. Last edited by Thudlow Boink; 07-01-2012 at 11:54 AM. |

I'm thinking they weren't sure they were going to feel any spark when they DID kiss, but...wow. They did. Their toes are curled
I'm thinking they're surprised at how hot it was. |

In the second sequence Luann and Quill were playing Tiffany for a fool--not hard to do, because she's already there; sort of like carrying coals to Newcastle.

They'll start to get down to business.... Luann decides she's not ready.... Quill presses on anyway.... Gunther bursts into the room with guns blazing....

Yes, and Luann getting her "." was a major, week-or-more-long sequence.
I'm also not convinced that Evans is "aging the characters glacially", as some claim. It seems that he makes specific changes for specific purposes, but doesn't follow a consistent timeline. He made Luann and her classmates sixteen because he wanted them to be able to drive. But I'm not aware (correct me if I'm wrong) of them taking the SATs or checking out colleges. Likewise, he advanced Brad to whatever age he is so he could live away from the parents. But his interactions with Toni seem to still be on a high school level. I'm also not aware (CMIIW) of his mulling the "I want to get married soon/I don't ever want to get married" decision that guys do when they get to the age he should be by now. |

Uh-oh
Take a look at today's strip. Luann is lying on her back on the bed, Quill says he's free for an hour or more. Assuming Frank and Nancy don't show up, I'd say the die is cast.

No way. Luann is too much the "good girl" to lose it in high school.
Anyway, I'm sick of Luann and Quill. I wanna see T.J. get Ann Eiffel fired already. |

Isn't the phone ringing again in the last panel? My hope is for a comedy of errors style hour where they keep trying to get down to business but something interferes. Because the last thing I want to think about over my morning eggs and toast is the sexlife of Luann.

Because the last panel makes it look like they kissed and then collapsed exhausted onto their backs on the bed. Or does that pose look like a natural making out position to you? He's not saying that they're actually roofied, just that the artist totally fucked up the positioning on that last panel.

Ain't gonna happen. They haven't even made out yet. Luann isn't the type to go from "just friends" to "fuck-buddies" with no intermediate steps. I also doubt Quill came prepared, so no condoms either. They'll get distracted before anything gets started, but will remember that they are both interested.
