Does this forum base classify people as "regs" or "newfags?"

Every single forum base I've been to has, and I swear, if this site does, I... I don't know what I'll do.

I'll obliterate you all with a laser gun and lots of mirrors.

You sound hungry.

To answer your question though, no and no. Welcome, assuming you're friendly.

Also, requests may be made of you to bring pie. Expect that.

I've never heard those terms, and wouldn't want to hang out any place they were used.

Does one need to be a fag before being a newfag or are the two terms independent? I'm afraid I know a lot more about New FAQs than newfags, sorry.

You must be a regular from 4chan.

No, we don't really classify each other here as those things (or anything).

Mostly we categorize people by whether they are idiots or not. We need more posting history to make that determination.

I myself am an "oldfart" or "venerable mossback" on this board.

Here we're either "smart and hip", or a "total dipstick".

Like Heisenberg, though, to find out which one you are is to risk your category thereby being changed.

I would add the OP has registered as a 15 year old girl, so maybe cutting some slack would be okay.

Then again, I may be a "Total Dipstick". (I think I have a new charter thing).

I don't think it's that simple; there seem to be any number who manage both.

I have bad news for you, Lizard - you have no chance of ever being a Charter Fag like me.

How come there is never a category for girlfag?? We are always left out of the equation. The Establishment has always operated as though lesbians don't exist.

Complaints about stupid language? Check.

Creative death threats? Check.

Oh, you'll fit in just fine here.

As with any messageboard there are inevitably a few hidden mines you might step on - topics we've discussed endlessly, unwritten rules of etiquette, stupid board memes, posters with a "history" that everyone else understands, that sort of thing. Follow the board rules, especially the "don't be a jerk" one (except in the BBQ Pit, where jerkishness is allowed) and you'll be fine.

New posters with numerous infalmmatory posts will be viewed with suspicion. Also, in certain he-posted-she-posted arguments, people with a long history will get the benefit of the doubt among established users. Really, though, we welcome newcomers and judge posts by content, not reputation.

Where's my Og-cursed pie, Lizard? (please note that we usually put user names in bold)

If you go to the General Questions forum, you can ask about how to obliterate people using laser guns and mirrors. You might find this to be more difficult than you assumed. You will be asked a lot of details about the type of laser gun and the number and type of mirrors, so be prepared for that. It might get side tracked by a discussion about trapping a laser beam between two mirrors, but eventually you will get in depth analysis of the obliteration process, along with suggestions for alternative obliteration methods.

No! And that's the beauty of newfag. Anyone can be a newfag. Newfag is all inclusive and you might even say it unites us all as one people. Makes me wanna cry with joy it does.

Now go and enjoy my fellow newfags and may all your fag be new.

There is a thread in Great Debates about whether it is even possible to be a newfag unless you are a newborn and newborns don't post much here. Lots of us think they were always that way and we break down the science to back up that assertion.

We don't have anything so formal, but many posters seem to be more prone to roll their eyes at someone with a recent join date who posts something dumb. My stodgy advice:

-Don't post in a thread that's been inactive for several years. The bulk of our "zombie threads" are revived by newbies, and it's built up a bit of bad will toward them over the years. It's an honest mistake, but it gets annoying. Feel free to start a new thread on the same topic, though.
-Avoid starting BBQ Pit threads about specific posters until you get a feel for who's who (e.g. don't pit Skald the Rhymer).
-Avoid /b/-inspired mannerisms like the -fag suffix.

"Regs"? My name starts with "Reg", so I guess you could call me reg... but if you do, I hope you've lived a long, full life without regrets. As to "newfags", new or old, it means more women for me.

Would it be against board rules for me to let Lil' Neville post, or at least contribute to a post, once I bring her home from the hospital? I doubt it, or at least suspect it isn't a banning offense, since the Neville kitties have contributed to posts of mine before, and they're under 13.

Though I don't think the term "fag" is generally used to describe females, gay or straight, and we won't know our baby's sexual orientation for several years in any case, so I guess she still wouldn't count as a newfag.
