If you do care, and you are a watcher, the season debut starts tonight. |

I think my two first impressions are the same ones I had last year.
The show is still in 4:3? It must be the last network program to still be broadcast in this aspect ratio. Seems cheap. It appeared as if Julie Chen didn't bother to show up for any real interaction with the house guests. She obviously wasn't there when they entered the house. Her other bits seemed like prerecords, but it could have just been edited that way. In any case, there was no back and forth with the house guests and that seemed chintzy. Judging by the footage in the preview for Sunday's show, they've been in the house for several days already. Too early to pick favorites, but I'd like to see Willy Hantz gone soon, just 'cause. |

They always go in a week before the premiere. It gives the producers more footage to build the first show from. Thursday would normally be a live episode night, and they wouldn't have the diary room moments if they just went in cold.

How does Britney get elevated to place where she is a coach. the other three? They played very good games but Britney did not play a good game, IMO. She was clueless to Lane-Hayden-Enzo-tattoo guy alliance.

It all depends on who will say yes, too. Britney may be a fourth or fifth choice, the previous three or four who were asked saying no. Despite how it usually seems by the middle of the season, not EVERY houseguest is a famewhore.
I am glad to see Janey back, though. Booger, not so much. |

There are probably some time zones who haven't seen it yet, but I'm already crossing my fingers for a quick exit for the current HOH. Brittany is probably the only one who hasn't figured out who that dude is.

Yeah, have to agree that Britney is way out of her element. Works for me though, as I loves me some Britney.

I have more respect for Britney being there than Mike. Britney went further than all non-Brigade members (and one actual member). I see the weak link as Mike. He was evicted in Week 5 (5!) in his season, then gets on All-Stars with Will (arguably the best strategist to ever play), who states quite clearly that his mission is to carry Mike to the end and then "drop out". Which he pretty much did. And yet, Mike believes he is "the best player in Big Brother history".

I'm thinking they may have screwed the players this time around. The more I think about it, the more I don't like the idea of having a full time coach in the house with the players groups.

I didn't like the first night eviction thing. There wasn't time for viewers to get to know the house guests, so it was hard to care who went home. They did something similar on "The Amazing Race" one season. They eliminated a team with a challenge at the starting line. That fell kinda' flat as well. |

Did he actually state his full name when he introduced himself? Or did he give just his first name, or a fake last name? Because if he offered up his full name, then it would pretty much be pointless to try to hide who he really is.

I thought it was interesting that Booger has a kid but (apparently) no wife/girlfriend/babymomma around. My take is that either whoever ended up spawning with him figured out she couldn't stand to be around him long before she gave birth to the kid or she doesn't want to be known as "Booger's Woman" on national TV.
Of course, it's probably going to turn out that they were deeply in love and she succumbed to a devastatingly fatal disease, because that's the one thing guaranteed to make this post look like that of a total asshole... |

I haven't paid much attention to Playboy in recent years, and looking at that cover, I feel justified. It doesn't look like anything, except maybe her hands, are real. It looks almost completely digitally drawn.

I just caught up with Sunday night's ep, so I finally got to read this thread. As formulaic and redundant as this show is, I couldn't wait for it to start. My thoughts so far:
Coaches: I admire Janelle for her competition ability, but she grates on me. Not rooting for her. Britney is cute, but I agree she's out of her league among the other coaches. I don't know how important that is, though. She doesn't need to be the best strategist, necessarily. Anyone who lasted as long as she did will have some valuable insight. I loved Dan in his season. I think he's smart and he seems a bit more hardened than he did the first time around. I think he goofed by how he used his save though. Boogie Boogie Boogie..... I get the hate... but Chill Town was my favorite reality team ev-er. Yes, Dr. Will was the mastermind, and their tactics might be slimy, but damn I enjoy watching them play. I don't think he'll win this time, but I'm glad he's there. House Guests: Too early to form any judgments (I don't get any live feed packages, just the canned network footage, so I am manipulated by the editors... I am leaning towards Shane as the early favorite. And how much must it suck to go through the application process, get chosen, go through all the waiver signing, etc., and then not even get to spend a (TV) night in the house? Last edited by Southern Yankee; 07-17-2012 at 05:54 AM. Reason: Cleared up some rambling... |

I'm already wishing for a BB like the good old days. Just stick a bunch of strangers into the house and let it all unfold. No coaches, no couples, no returning players, just all new blood.
The only good new is that I'm hearing some rumblings from the players that they need to be independent. Maybe they'll have the courage to do that. Edited to add the part about boobs. And the 7/18 episode. One of the most boring ever. If it wasn't for the great boob shots, it would have been a total waste. Last edited by Morgenstern; 07-19-2012 at 08:12 AM. |

I'm really not enjoying this coach thing. It's just becoming this story of which coach's team can win instead of an individual game.

I don't think the coaching is going to last very long. Apparently, the coaches are already starting to talk about their plans WHEN they actually enter the game (instead of IF), and the "Thursday on BB" announcement at the end last night seemed to be teasing the same thing.

Haven't watched last night's show yet, but a few random thoughts from Wednesday's show:
- Boogie looks like Gollum in the diary room when he wears that one hat.... - What in the world was Wil wearing (that semi-tank-top black "shirt")?? - Seemed like Janelle was in a bikini most of the show, even inside |

I like Boogie as a BB player. You CAN'T have scrupples if you expect to win a show like BB (or Survivor) It rewards, indeed thrives on, dishonesty.

I don't know if I'd agree with that. Jordan won playing with integrity, Rachel was pretty straightforward in her win last season, and an argument can be made that Hayden won his season with scruples as well.

Big event in the house yesterday. Spoiler box spoils everything, so don't read if you want to be surprised about anything on Sunday's episode.
Included in the spoiler is a couple short youtube clips that could easily get pulled quickly. SPOILER:
Also, forgot to mention this after Thursday's show but based on what they showed I didn't see any homophobia in Willie's impersonation of Wil. I think Frank made that up out of whole cloth. EDIT: Fair warning that if you quote this post you will see the spoiler. Last edited by Ellis Dee; 07-21-2012 at 09:31 AM. |

Yeah, as one of the other players said, he played too hard, too fast. Even Evil Dick knew better than to act like a belligerent asshole right off the bat. Of course, Evil Dick also knew how to walk the fine line between acting like a belligerent asshole and doing something that would actually get him booted from the show.

I wonder if they told them about the shooting in Colorado? I know it's unlikely that anyone would have a personal connection to the victims, but better safe than sorry in an extreme case like this.

Interesting show last night. Sofar we've got two strong people trying to determine if either can trust the other (which would be a great way to get to the final 2) and a handful of people flying under the radar. Frank and Shane really need to get a secret alliance going. Frank because Shane is a strong competitor, and Shane because I'll bet he's Brittany's sole survivor after the next vote.
Joe and Wil are expendable. They don't appear to have any strategy at all, other than following their leader. Ian, after a weird start, has settled into a little spot where he's totally ignored. Danielle is totally expendable, but I'm betting it's Jojo sent to the bus stop tonight. Last edited by Morgenstern; 07-26-2012 at 09:07 AM. |

Kinda funny - a friend of mine was on vacation last week so he's slowly trying to catch up. We were talking about it at lunch and he was talking about some moves Willie could make so I didn't really say anything.
About an hour later, he comes over to my desk and shows me this article on his phone. "I guess Willie went home, huh?" That had to be a slightly surreal way to find out about the situation. |

What's this BS about letting America vote on whether the coaches join the game? It was obvious from the start that they needed more than 12 players. It's 16 weeks isn't it? Once Bonerhead was kicked, they has another week to fill to make a full season.
Cheap @$$ CBS, soaking people a buck to vote when I'll bet they planned on shoving the coaches in all along. /rant Last edited by Morgenstern; 07-27-2012 at 05:20 PM. |

I'm really sick of returning players in non-All Stars seasons of reality shows. The coaches thing was a good idea. Gives the viewers some people they already know but shouldn't screw things up too badly. But now, of course, they'll have the coaches in now one way or another. I'm guessing that if America votes no, then when a coach's last player goes, the coach will enter the game.
I'm also now convinced that, just like with Boston Rob on Survivor, the producers are setting up the third try to get Janelle the win. |

Ha!
If the vote comes back 99% No and 1% Yes, Grodner will say that America voted yes and will then "offer" the coaches the "option" to enter the game. Totally up to them. If they opt not to enter the game, they will have to leave the house immediately and forfeit all money, including their weekly stipend. |

CBS was coming in really garbled for me last night. I missed the first 45 min. of the show. I did catch the veto meeting. Did anything interesting/important happen during the rest of the hour? Is anything interesting happening at all?
