FiOS- setting up for LAN access

I'm thinking of getting back into the gamer pc market, which means I'd like to be able to hook into the internet via LAN instead of wifi. Thing is, the FiOS router/modem is behind the TV and is also connected to the main cable box.

For any of you with FiOS and gaming pcs out there, how do you go about setting it up so you can plug into the router without having cables running across rooms? Does the router actually need to be hardwired to the cable box? If not, I could move the router to where the computer would be.

Sorry if this is a problem with an obvious fix.

Never mind

I just realized I had made a false assumption. Carry on.
