Chicago Fall Dopefest?
Any interest in a Fall Chicago Dopefest? Our summer Dopefest only had a turnout of 3, of course weather had a big factor in that.
I'd prefer a Friday afternoon/early evening or Saturday any time. I'm in Lake View, but can travel anywhere with CTA access. Yes, we will pick a place that has separate checks. ![]() Anyone interested? October perhaps? |

As one of the three to make the last one, I'm up for another one. Friday evening or Saturday is good for me, or pretty much any time. The Galway joint worked out well; I'd do that again.

As one who wanted to get to the last one but had a last-minute schedule screw-up, I'd be interested.

I'm interested, but flaky (depression+social anxiety+potential for patient emergencies+chronic cash flow issues). So don't include me in any headcounts, but I'll be watching the thread and may surprise myself by showing up.

I'd certainly be up for doing it again at the Galway Arms again, although I know parking in that area is very tough.
2442 North Clark Street, Chicago, Il, 60614. How about Friday Oct 19 or Saturday, Oct 20? Last edited by dalej42; 09-15-2012 at 10:07 AM. |

If I'm back from Europe I'm in. The Galway would be perfect.

After work hours are fine during the week, and during the day should be fine most Saturdays. Wherever, as long as it's easy to get to via CTA.

How about the 12th/13th then? I"m trying to avoid the weekend closest to Halloween.

I might be interested depending on date and time.
I'd suggest Moody's Pub in Edgewater. Very close to the Thorndale red line stop and also has plenty of parking. Also, very good food and cheap delicious pitchers of sangria. |

Moody's is awesome and that's close to me! Hear hear! Thorndale stop is closed, unfortunately. Depending on where you're coming from, you'll have to get off at Bryn Mawr or Grandville.

Logan Square! No, I kid. I know, I know, Logan is in the middle of nowhere and isn't accessible to anyone not on the Blue Line. So, hmm, Lakeview? I'd say that's an area easy to get to for most people.

Could I ask for early November? ... my October weekends are pretty well filled up. (On t'other hand, there's never a guarantee that I can make a date, my life is filled with a 92-year-old mother-in-law and a wife recovering from back surgery, so... what's the line? Humans plan and God laughs.)

Maybe the weekend right after Halloween? That would be Nov 2/3

That would be a good weekend for me. Wife is due the end of the month so I'll be in town.

I'd be down if it's an after-work sort of thing. Some potential of me making it on a Saturday night, but zero potential for a Saturday day.
As the turnout last time showed, going at a time that neither me nor MOL can make it is just not a good idea. |

So are we settled on the first weekend of November? What about a Friday night?

Early November works. Would prefer a school night, or during the daytime on a weekend. Might could do a Friday, but not ideal.

That's a good weekend for me as well. Slight preference for the Friday as that's when the wife allows me out of the house

Friday Nov 2 is also good for me. Are we still debating between Edgewater and Lincoln Park? I'm fine with either.

So Friday, November 2nd it is? I'm easy as to locale though would prefer Lincoln Park as I live there.

Let's set the date as Friday Nov 2, sometime after work, say 5 or 6 pm. Anyone know how the happy hour scene is in Lincoln Park? The Galway was great for the last mini fest, as it there was plenty of room for a group on a Saturday afternoon.

Another idea in Lincoln Park might be Rocks
The Lake View location is my absolute favorite hangout place, great beers on tap and the food is quite tasty for bar food. I haven't been to the Lincoln Park location, but if they're good with groups as well as separate checks, it might be a good Dopefest spot. |

How does the other location at Rocks, 1301 W Schubert Ave, Chicago, IL 60614, work our for parking?

Parking is pretty rough anywhere in LP, especially in the evenings.

There is paid parking on several spots on Clark Street very near the Galway Arms.

Quick bump to gauge interest on Friday, Nov 2, let's say 5 pm-7 or whenever. Is Lincoln Park ok with paid parking for those who drive?

Also in. Let's stick with this date.
It will be difficult to park and getting into the heart of the city at 5 on a Friday is not something I'm looking forward to. I leave work just west of Ohare at 5 and can't imagine getting to LP before 6. The Galway was perfect in the summer with that deck but I'm not sure how well it would work in chilly November but I can't come up with any alternatives. I'll leave the location-picking to the public transporters and just show up when I can. Aw la yall are lucky I like most of you or I wouldn't bother. |

I dunno. I'm guessing they'll take place on the 26th/27th, but I don't know how this works. I just go along with whatever's happening. I can find out from my folks and find out what the haps are, and if we're in the clear, I'm still in.

For those who want to park near the Galway Arms, they offer discount parking ($6) at the nearby Children's Memorial outpatient facility:
http://www.galwayarms.com/Parking.htm There is also paid parking at Lincoln Park Market, 2500 N. Clark, although I don't know what they charge. The Galway is 2442 N. Clark, so it's just a little ways up the block. |
