To review what we've learned:
D. 1. Real 2. Female 3. Living 4. Last name begins w/ "D" 5. Born after 1950 6. Not in Arts 7. Not a Politician 8. Not known for specific incident 9. American 10. Olympian 11. Won gold medals in track 12. Retired by 2000 13. Not in sprint events 14. Doesn't use ball-like implements 15. If not for her athletic achievement, would be completely unremarkable 16. I'll borrow a DQ, if I may.
DQ - did this person win a Gold medal in the 2000 Olympics in Sydney? |

Baffled - all I have is Gail Devers and Stacy Dragila, and they've both been eliminated. I give up!

I'll burn a DQ, if I may:
Did this person earn a gold medal for the United States in the 2000 Olympics? Last edited by Munch; 09-24-2012 at 01:15 PM. |

And if a DQ isn't allowed...
Was this person who ran for the Bahama Olympic team awarded a gold medal in Sydney because the person who actually finished first was disqualified for testing positive for performance enhancing drugs? Last edited by Munch; 09-24-2012 at 01:21 PM. |

Damn - you know what? I looked up the actual rules, and it seems I've been cheating! (And my hunch was WAY off.) Sorry all - I'll bow out.

Her gold medals were as an American, and she has no PED ties.

I'll give a hint: You're all making an assumption that is untrue.

Hmmm. Can't think what that might be.
Well, we have one DQ earned but not asked. Anyone want to use it? Then we can all ask our "Are you [firstname lastname]?" questions and end the round. |

Jeanne Driscoll, the Paralympian marathoner. The assumption you all made: able-bodied.

I have never heard of Jeanne Driscoll, so I learned something new today.

Never heard of her - she has no Wiki page - and I don't think the Paralympics are the Olympics.

Try Jean Driscoll - she's listed. Paralympians are Olympians, they just don't get all the air time as ablebodied Olympians.

It's Okay. My ignorance fought on the spelling.

A very interesting choice. To me, Olympic athletes and Paralympic athletes are two different things, but if you'd said she wasn't an Olympic athlete, I don't think I would have got to Paralympic without having exhausted every other athletic endeavour down to Parkour, Cricket and Lacrosse. Quite a challenge that reveals much about my preconceptions.
On to the next round? Let's go!! |

DQ answer #10 was "Olympian," not "Paralympian." Anyway.
Since it's almost October, etv, you might want to wait until Mon. to start the next thread. |
