Question about identifying the quality of an oral surgeon

Our daughter needs to have a couple teeth yanked prior to getting braces, and we're wondering if there's any standard way of ascertaining quality and qualifications of oral surgeons in our area?

My wife would like me to say "pulled" or "gently removed". She doesn't understand our ways. I've had teeth out. "Yanked" is the word.
