You and me both. I made the mistake of going with my vampire-slayer loving heart instead of my head. My mistake.

Blast, I was considering Surfin' USA, but I figured that it was a "California" thing, and wasn't particularly limited to summertime.

And...Saturday in the Park? You only think it was the Fourth of July. My choice (clearly not a popular one) definitely was.

I didn't even read far enough to see that Gellar was in that-- I just saw the first listed name, thought "OK, I've heard of her, sounds like a good guess" and moved on to the next question. If the first-billed actor had been someone I'd never heard of, then I'd have read further.

I had actually written Gellar in for this same reason. But I figured that Hewitt was the star of the franchise so I switched to her.

That said, I don't remember why I figured a lot of people would be picking "MacArthur Park".

Is there a reason for the arbitrary cutoff?
Given that you don't want to see other people's answers, it's pretty hard to tell that it's over until the thread is marked closed. Why not let people play up to that point?

It's a tradition that we have 50 entries. The spreadsheet that I work with only goes to 50, and I didn't write it. I can have less, but not more.

I'm not an Excel kinda person...

I'm starting the scoring now.

Hm, I think this is my second or third best showing ever. The Donna Summers song was the only one I lost significant points for, I think.

Yup. I should've gone with a Donna Summer hit* rather than my actual favorite Donna Summer song. Although I did actually think "Walking on Sunshine" would get at least one other mention.

* Like, duh, the one that is my girlfriend's ringtone on my phone ("Love to Love You, Baby").

What? Oh, I see.

Yes, I know that. That's why I gave that as my answer to #9, a summer song. I gave "On the Radio" as my answer to #7, a Summer song. It is only because of the way I mentioned them so closely together just now, I think, that the confusion arose for you. Maybe if I'd paragraph-broke between the sentences.

I think "washing windows" and "window washing" are the same.

It may not be much but at least it'll get me out of that three-way tie.

And really, more people remember Atlanta for the Summer Games than Beijing? That puzzles me. Must have a lot of Georgians on the board

Or a lot of Americans on the board, at least.

My thought process was "Hmm, I should pick an American city. What's the most recent American city to host? SLC? No, wait, that was the winter games. OK, then, LA."

Yes, I forgot about Atlanta entirely, but if I had remembered, I would have gone with it.

I'm not American, my thought process was more about which Olympics had a significant event that Americans and non-Americans would remember. Sadly, it came down to Munich or Atlanta and I picked Atlanta, being the most current.

That said, I wished I had answered London.

For me it was three things:

1. There was a bombing
