I bit my tongue so hard it hurt my ear.

I almost passed out, drooled blood onto my rice and now I have a bruise on my tongue.

And an earache.

I am confused as to how biting your tongue would make your ear hurt.

However, I do not have any desire to experiment to find out.

I can testify that eating extremely spicy food can make my eardrums itch. That could be due to flushing, though. It still wouldn't surprise me to find that intense pain in the tongue could have an echo in the ears, though. There are some odd neural interconnections around there--consider the photic sneeze reflex, for instance.

Alternatively, swelling in the tongue could be making Floaty hold his jaw in an odd position, causing pain in the joint, which can resemble an earache.

Thank you. My tongue is now hiding in the back of my mouth twisted into a knot a boyscout couldn't untie. I hope it comes back out before dinner. . .

Looks like the trigeminal nerve covers a lot of ground, including the jaw and the outer ear; not too surprising that there might be some crosstalk.

I once bit my tongue so hard I put a hole right through the middle of it.

I was in an airplane crash at the time, with lots of contusions lacerations and puncture wounds and broken bones.

That tongue injury hurt more than the rest of the injuries combined.

I feel your pain, FloatyGimpy!

Yeah I think it must have been a nerve thing and not my jaw because the ear pain was instant. Holy moly it hurt! Lump and a small bruise there still today but doesn't hurt much at all.
