God damn it, tbs!!!
I'm watching a rerun of The Big Bang Theory on TBS, and they break away in the middle of the program to start playing a Clippers playoff game.
Apparently some other event is running long, and they feel if the Clippers are going to be on the teevee, they have to put it on a different channel, one that HAPPENS to be showing a program that's IMPORTANT. Seriously, WHAT. THE. FUCK!!!???!!! Don't you fucking Georgians have any concept of PRIORITIES? Not everyone who lives in Georgia; just the ones that make decisions in the CNN Center. Fuck. Dude, it was a rerun. And the Clippers. I don't know why you had TBS on in the first place.

KDOC does much the same thing - preempts worthwhile shows for hockey games, shows that would have normally come on well after the game is over but for some reason they cannot go back to their regular schedule. Pisses me right off.

Yes they do. And their priority is to the programming they paid an assload of money to air. So despite a record syndication deal reportedly worth $1.5 million an episode, the cost of BBT pales in comparison to an NBA game.

The Big Bang theory comes on approximately 250,490 times a week for TBS. Seriously, I'd never seen a single episode before this year and within a month I'd seen 90% of them.
Just wait another three days. Your episode will be on again. |

OP, are you serious? I can't tell if this is an excellent example of doper mentality re sports or a tongue-in-cheek moment of mockery I can get behind.

What do you have against tablespoons?
Reads OP Wait a minute-- it was a fucking re-run? That you've seen before and will see again? Against something live that will probably never, ever play again? And you're this upset about it? Wow, talk about self-centered. |

I can totally agree with this pitting. I'm sick of sports preempting my shows. They have a bazillion Espn channels, use those to show that crap.

Yes, I'm sure TBS would be happy to give up their NBA rights so that you won't have your 12 hours of continuous sitcom programming disturbed.

I don't care if they would be happy. I'm do care that I'm doomed to a life of having to know sports schedules so I have at least some idea of when fox, tbs or any of the others are going to air it instead of their regular lineups.

They should be! On a "Value added to civilization" scale, reruns of Rosanne and Home Improvement far outweigh any "contribution" made by the NBA.

That's the thing that pisses me off about TBBT on TBS, it seems like they only bought a bare few episodes and are playing them over and over and over again. So you really haven't seen 90% of them, you've just seen the same dozen or so over and over.

This is untrue. All sports teams give a lot of money to charity. Roseanne re-runs gave us Tom Arnold. I don't like hockey but I don't bitch just because it's on TV and especially if it is pre-empting something that I've already seen and will see again if I want.

Turner/Time Warner probably has a contractual responsibility to broadcast all of the live events they're licensed for. And while I'm not an NBA fan particularly, I can tell you that the bleed over between TBS and TNT during the early rounds of the baseball playofs saved me no end of agita.
Plus, you know, Big Bang Theory? Seriously? --Cliffy |

No, I was actually quite annoyed.
Had they cut in to broadcast a Dodgers game I wouldn't have made a peep. |

And why KDOC? That is a local indy station, how could they get anything like the Stanley Cup?I don't watch any sports unless I have to, so if it was just for the Stanley Cup I wouldn't have known it. I didn't even read the details on the guide, I just swore at the TV and changed the channel. |

Which was the correct decision, and should have been stood behind and retained as policy. The Super Bowl had its time slot; it ran over; boo hoo extra hoo.

It wasn't the Super Bowl, it was a regular season game. It was also one of the dumbest decisions the network could have made. Viewership drops like a rock when they switch to shitty movies, and they took a huge PR hit that day. Nothing about that decision was correct, which is why no single station on the planet would ever do it again.

Ah! That makes sense. Now, if they would just return to regular programming after the games are over instead of making a big mess of the schedule...

The Mighty Ducks. Yes, yes, I know, they "officially" changed their name to drop the "Mighty" and remove the stigma of being forever associated with a cheesy Disney movie franchise. I don't care. To me, they are and always will be the Mighty Ducks (the Ducks are the football team at the University of Oregon). Just like the Designated-hitter-loving bastards across the street will always be the California Angels.
