108.65 to 108.10, barring correction, Stringer loses. Suicide watch ordered.

Grrr. I really wanted a win today in the consolation bracket: the difference between the 5th pick and the 8th pick is potentially pretty huge -- with the latter, you're basically in "3rd Round RB" territory, as opposed to a situation where there are still Doug Martins and Cam Newtons and C.J. Spillers available.

I've now lost 5 of my last 6 games. My points in those 5 losses: 134, 112, 114, 115, 136. Each of those was (slightly, arguably) an above average performance. Bummer.

ETA: And while we're at it, Ellis is on the clock. The first four picks will belong to:

1) Ellis Dee
2) RNATB
3) dalej42
4) RetroVertigo

A Frank Gore fumble recovery saved my season!

Congrats to furt and Hamlet on getting into the Championship Game.

And congrats to the Justin_Bailey who's going to the Championship Game in the alternate universe where the Seahawks defense doesn't score 47 points last week.

I'd celebrate, but I'm terrified Phillip Rivers may fumble during a post game press conference and it'll turn into a loss.

Stringer, if it makes you feel any better, Wilson lost to me by 0.03 in the HHM playoffs last year.

God, this is a terrible year to have a good draft pick, unless Atlanta drafts someone to replace Michael Turner.

So, anyone know when the stats are finalized and no more corrections are made? Today? Wednesday? Is it Elias? I want to gloat about winning despite an injured QB and piss poor QB play, but I'm terrified that karma has a butt kicking coming my way.

In the regular season they can be applied as late as Friday. I assume Thursday is the cutoff in the playoffs.

No stat correction help for me. Congrats Hamlet, it's weird that our trade was really not a factor in the outcome of our matchup.

First time in the history of this league that I am not in the finals. I guess it had to happen eventually.

Colin Kaepernick. My season comes down to Colin Kaepernick.

C'mon Seattle defense. You've fucked me before, so you can make it up to me by holding Kaepernick to less than 20 points.

Congratulations to Hamlet, our 2012 SDMB Dynasty League Champion!

For years he's been our biggest hard-luck case, going a combined 27-29 (7th-best W-L record) in the regular season despite finishing 1st, 4th, 3rd, and 2nd in points scored (his four-year average of 1743 puts him second behind only Stringer, and considerably ahead of third place Beef). No doubt this was the karmic price to be paid for landing Adrian Peterson with the 3rd overall pick of our inaugural draft, but at long last the clouds have parted, the Gods have smiled, and our merciful Lord and Savior has gently pronounced, "It's ok, son; that'll be enough of the ass-raping for now."

It's a very solid all-around team. Instead of dominating one position, they were just very good at each of them. He did, of course, have Peterson's ridiculous year, and along with Jamaal Charles and the surprising Alfred Morris that gives him 3 of the top 9 RBs this year, but he didn't acquire Charles until very late in the season, and so-so TD and reception numbers have meant that Peterson, though the #1 RB, hasn't exactly lapped the field (as sometimes happens). The WRs might be the closest thing to a weak link, but of course not really when they're anchored by Brandon Marshall and Percy Harvin, with more than enough talent to round out the other spots (Steve Smith, Eric Decker). Of course, much of this team's future will hinge on whether or not Robert Griffin fulfills his destiny as the fantasy QB Michael Vick was supposed to be. So far, that's actually looking lilke a pretty good bet ... which is a scary proposition.

Congratulations to the Champ.

Some Four-Year Numbers.

Note: Points Scored averages aren't precise, since I rounded to the nearest whole number when entering individual totals in order to save time and space on my legal pad. But it's close enough.

Average Points Scored Per Season (W-L)
Stringer .......... 1825.25 (42-14)
Hamlet ............ 1742.75 (27-29)

SenorBeef ....... 1653.75 (34-22)
Petey .............. 1605.25 (30-26)

Justin_Bailey ... 1594.75 (30-26)
VarlosZ ............ 1558.50 (26-30)
furt .................. 1551.50 (32-24)

RNATB .............. 1534.25 (28-28)
RetroVertigo .... 1525.00 (23-33)
Omni/Hermit .... 1495.00 (21-35)

Ellis Dee ........... 1438.50 (23-33)
dalej42 ............ 1431.50 (20-36)

Avg/Team by Season
2009 -- 1603.92
2010 -- 1556.08
2011 -- 1569.75
2012 -- 1588.92

'09-'12 -- 1579.67

Northeast Corridor Division
Average Season/Team: 1538.81
Intra-Divisional Record: 63-65

Midwest Division
Average Season/Team: 1647.00
Intra-Divisional Record: 65-63

Sunbelt Division
Average Season/Team: 1556.19
Intra-Divisional Record: 64-64

Miscellaneous

-- Without trying at all, I think we've achieved a nice level of parity between the divisions, as you can see above.

-- Stringer has gone 11-3 for three straight seasons (he was a paltry 9-5 in our first season).

-- RNATB is on a troubling trajectory. His yearly points scored, in chronological order: 1818, 1510, 1440, 1369.

-- RetroVertigo has had our most consistent team: every year his total points have fallen between 1485 and 1568.

-- The Northeast Division has been in it's own little parity-heavy world. Out of 16 total team/seasons, only 3 have ended more than one game over or under .500 (the other two divisions have each had 10), with only one to share between furt, Justin, and myself.

Thanks!

I'd like to thank the veteran's, especially the Cute Widdle Bunny's MVP, Adrian Peterson. Not only was he the #1 RB, but he also was a helluva lot of fun to watch. Thanks to Brandon Marshall, the #2 WR, and a special thank you to Jay Cutler for not being able to throw to anyone else. Steve Smith? Where's Steve Smith? Oh, hey Steve. A special thank you for remaining relevant and finishing in the top 20 for two years in a row after everyone else had written you off. You were a huge help in the playoff run.

And to you young guns, who really put it together and helped out during the season. Percy, dude, you're a stud, but for the love of god stay healthy for once. You could be a top 5 WR if you could keep it together. And Eric, man, dude, you only needed a great QB to come up big, a top 20 guy. When Percy went down, you were right there to pick up the pieces.

And none of this could be possible without the newbies to my team. RGIII, what can I say? You're a special athlete, fun to watch, and having you let me trade away Stafford for a couple starters in Garcon and Jamaal Charles. And speaking of those two, Welcome to the team Pierre and Jamaal! Jamaal, you were huge in the Championship game! MVP for that game, dude, thanks! Pierre, not only did you help out in the run to the championship, but I'm very excited to have you on the team for next year. Griffin to Garcon could be huge.

Lastly, but certainly not least, a huge shout out to my boy Alfred Morris. An $8 waiver preseason pickup who went on to be the 9th rated RB of the year. That kind of value is outstanding! Well done! It's those kind of moves, those kinds of drafts, that give hope to the grinders and non-contenders in this league that they can turn it around quick.

And the rest of you guys, you're depth and flexibility makes me think this isn't going to be a one year wonder. Young talent like Andre Brown (get well soon!), Mikel Leshoure, Brian Hartline and my kickers could have a nice future on this team. Keep up the good work!

Beanie Wells, Phillip Rivers, and Vernon Davis .... Gentlemen watch your backs. You all have great potential that was a huge letdown this year. Let's make next year a bounce back year for you. I'm not afraid to cut your asses, especially if guys like Matt Flynn, Kirk Cousins, or DuJuan Harris get more opportunities.

Great Season gentlemen, and look for a little extra something in your paychecks this week. Have a happy holidays.

Hey, I've won the consolation bowl 2 years in a row.

I needed Akers to have a better game than Gore, but that happened. Dez Bryant is finally scoring points, even though it was too late for the regular season run.

I still have no idea how that happened. Gore is my best RB, but he always manages to screw me with a super low-scoring game at least once a day. Did it really have to be in the Consolation Bowl?

Congrast to Hamlet, maybe now we can take a few weeks of hiatus on all the cursed talk.

In an odd way, Stringer, I think you lucked out that things turned out the way they did for us. I mean, we lost in week 16, and that sucks, and we're both dissapointed. But if we'd both gone to the championship game as expected, I'd have beat you again, and I suspect you'd have found that even more dissapointing even though it would've been a better ranking overall.

So anyway, I forgot if I mentioned it, but it was mentioned that Trent Richardson was playing all year with broken ribs. I was very critical of his performance for the season, but he ended up putting up pretty useful fantasy numbers, in an archaic offense, with awful playcalling which invariably tipped off the defense when he was going to run, with broken ribs, after late offseason knee surgery. #7 RB overall.

So now he gets Norv Turner, who for all his failure as a head coach is generally agreed to be a good offensive coordinator and very friendly to running backs. And he gets to come back healthy. I'm optimistic that Richardson is going to rape all of you in the face next year.

I've had a few weeks to enjoy my victory (sans face raping, though), and, like all the great football players and coaches, I'm already looking forward to next year.

I, and apparently many draftniks from my little bit of research, are not so enamoured with the skill position players available in the 2013 NFL draft. Last year, we all knew who the first three players drafted were going to be (Luck, RGIII, Richardson), but this year, it seems to be a crapshoot. QB's always rise in the rankings as we get closer to the draft (desperation, not talent, to my eyes), but is anyone really salivating over drafting Geno Smith? Is Matt Barkley grabbing you? How about that huge quagmire of similarly situated WR's, with no clear talent up there, wanna draft one of those guys (Keenan Allen who? Courderoy Patterson of whatever his name is?) With Lattimore injured, who's your must have RB? Ball? Lacy? Taylor?

There's a buttload of talent on both the offensive and defensive lines and some great pass-rushers, but nobody is really jumping out at me as must have draftable skill position players in this year's draft.

I think it's a good draft to be drafting late.

I think, in hindsight, that Turner's vaunted RB production has been a function of the players he coached, and not his coaching. I could have drawn up a 2,000 yard rushing attack with Emmitt, LT or Steven Davis.

ETA: Montee Ball shall be mine. Unless the Falcons draft somebody to replace Turner the Burner.

I think Emmitt Smith is as much a product of a good offense and good coaching as anything. I haven't seen that much of him (I wasn't really much of a football fan until after he retired) but he never strikes me as a supremely talented runner, just a guy in a good offense who was pretty good and managed to stay remarkably healthy. LT, on the other hand, is one of the all time greats in terms of talent.

I'm hoping Richardson's struggles this season were the understandable broken ribs and knee surgery more than any lack of talent. In any case, history has proven giving Norv a very talented running back, he'll use him effectively, and that's all I need for Richardson to score 800 points next year.

Don't underestimate how bad Brad Childress and Pat Shurmur were for designing a running game. It didn't use the strength of our linemen very well, and it was always tipped off by formation and personel. I could tell you with about 75% accuracy when there'd be a run, so you know the DC of the other team could too. It's amazing that Richardson was such a useful fantasy asset given the situaton he faced this year.

This year's draft is really short on offense. No first round RBs, maybe 1-2 WRs at most. It's all linemen and defense. I mean we're looking at guys like Eifert who would be pretty mundane in most drafts possibly being one of our top 2 or 3 picks.

Good time to be picking last.

But you're absolutely right. Does Geno Smith really excite anyone? I suppose Eddie Lacey could get you going, or take a big chance on Tavon Austin or Cordarelle Patterson, but I think depth is going to be helpful this year.

A bit off topic, but does everyone want to keep the same online draft format that we used last season? I'm 100% in support of that. With my new work schedule, I will probably have to cut my football leagues down, but I certainly want to stay in this league.

I do have Cam Newton available for trade, I want a good RB or a WR in exchange.

I definitely want to do it again. It was much more fun than a live draft that would be over in 15 minutes. It made me feel like I had a real draft strategy instead of just blindly picking guys that I hoped would be good after all the guys I really wanted were taken in round 1.
