2017 Mass Killings in the United States

Every time, I read that as a total number, not the year.

Misunderstood thread title: Why are there so many old suburbans? I thought the OP was asking about the age of people living in the 'burbs.

At first I thought that one was about old suburbs.

To which my ready answer was, "A metric crapload of them got built just after WWII. Which is now coming up on 75 years ago. That's why they're all so old."

Then I opened the thread.

For just a split second I wondered what the thread "Can IBM results be skewed by really large breasts?" was about. Was it a new pentium scandal? Some weird misogynistic trolling? What? Then I read the title again. (Still haven't read the thread, maybe it really is about quantum effects from breasts on microchips.)

It's not a thread title, but I keep seeing the title of that J.K. Rowling movie as Fantastic Breasts and Where to Find Them.

And when I realize what it really says, I feel let down.

There's a thread in Cafe Society asking about an instrument in a M(ichael) Buble song. I thought the OP was asking about the song in the old Mr. Bubble bubble bath jingle.

"Mr. Bubble in the tub'll get ya squeaky clean
It's as much fun getting dirty as it is getting clean. Mr Bubble!"

Not misread, but the newly-bumped "Admiral Halsey, psoriasis and midway" thread in GQ makes me think of something Carnac the Magnificent would say just before tearing open the envelope.

For a long time, there was a title in IMHO: Buying a House. EVERY TIME I saw it, I thought it said Buying a HORSE.

Of course, that could just be my horse obsessed mind...

Not a thread title, but I read a movie title within a thread not as 2000 (or something) motels, but "2000 mohels." Oy. I wonder how many mohels there are in the US?

I keep glancing across the "Trump Perry sign racist" thread and seeing it as "Tyler Perry sign racist", except for the one time that I saw it as "Tom Petty sign racist."

And the "Is fighting tyranny a purpose of the 2nd amendment" thread? Well, I never misread it in the top page for Great Debates, but once when it was listed in abbreviated version in the "latest post" area at the top listing for the forums, I once saw it as "Is fighting tranny a purpose..."

Not a misread title, so much, but I still wonder why everyone is upset with the Bureau of Land Management all the time. Also ways takes me half a second to realize that's not what #BLM means.

That one gets me every time too.

Having lived out in sagebrush rebellion country for a decade or two, I always wonder what the Bureau did to piss off the sun-baked crazies this time. Then I remember that's probably not what BLM means in today's context.

That was especially bad during the Malheur occupation (even though Fish and Wildlife runs that, some people probably use "BLM" as a catchall phrase for federal government land administration.) Because some people were like "Well, what about BLM?" and at first I thought they were saying "yeah, the Malheur occupiers are bad but the federal government's pretty violent and heavy handed too!" but what they were actually saying was "I think these occupiers are being treated with kid gloves compared to the much less violent BLM because of their race." (Or maybe they were saying the movements were similar, I can't recall.)
