I'll give anybody a pass on saying something kind of stupid when he's out there talking all day every day for weeks on end. I've certainly tried to tell some jokes off the cuff that ended up coming out as weird and kind of stupid.

If Obama had said this we'd be hearing about it hourly on Fox News and the right-wing blogosphere would be griping that the Lamestream Media is just showing its colors by not breaking into its regular programming with a Special Report.

Well, I think this one is going to hurt more: Romney just acknowledged in a speech that Obama has not raised taxes. This undercuts claims Republicans have been making for a while, as well as the claim that the Obamacare mandate is a tax.

Yep. It was a joke. The link in the OP has the video. He throws the remark in as an aside, with a tight smile. He isn't trying to make people break up in laughter, but it was a Letterman-type comment. Is that appropriate for a presidential candidate? Sure, why not?

Meh. I find that semi-endearing. Yes, he's rich and famous, and I'm not, and he's rubbing it in my face, and I'm jealous, and I also disagree with him on policy, etc., etc., but I could imagine myself making a similar crack with a shit-eating grin at at least one point in my life were I ever in his position of being rich, famous, and somewhat not-unhappy about it.

I also, having seen the video, am sure Mitt Romney was just making a half-baked joke about the windows thing that happened to fall flat and which he probably regretted afterwards. We've all been there.
