Most Extreme Elimination Challenge (MXC)

I tried to see if there is another thread about this show but the board is acting up. Please point me in the right direction if there is one.

Anyway - HOLY CRAP this is the funniest show on television!!! I canít make the link work and I am dumb and canít figure out why, but do a Google search on "extreme challenge" then click on the second link, the one that says "(6) recounts. . . " then click on one of the episodes. Be prepared to pee your pants.

Then again, maybe it is just me.

I would definitely have to agree. I love watching this show! And it was great to see them have a marathon of sorts yesterday. Five straight hours! Taped all five of them too!

I just wish I knew what they were actually saying! I can't even believe half the things they voice over. I can't stop laughing! That show is insane!!!!!!!!

DON'T GET ELIMINATED!!!!!!!!!

I don't care for the "What's Up Tiger Lilly?"-ing of the soundtrack. I think I'd like it better if they just translated it directly into English or even just left it in Japanese.

I think I saw some of this this past weekend. Diane, could you provide a link -- the Google search you recommended is not turning this up for me.

This is one of my favorite shows -- I had been meaning to start a thread on it and ask the Japanadopers if Takeshi's Castle, the show that MXC takes its footage from, is representative of Japanese game shows or if it was a special case. Either way, it's damn funny.

Ah yeah, but that's the best part. They really aren't translating the actual words, they are dubbing outrageous things instead.

THAT is what makes it so dang funny.

I caught a big part of the marathon, more than I'd seen of the show until now. It's good disposable humor, but I would like to see a direct translation of Takeshi's Catle for comparison's sake. The action is funny to me without the made up teams and names and cheesy voiceovers, sometimes they're cute sometimes they can be tedious.

I believe I did recognize "Captain Tenneal" as an actor who has been a frequent tasting panel judge on Iron Chef. Ishihara Yoshizumi, seems to be who I'm thinking of according to ironchef.com.

I say we eliminate all shows and products with "Extreme" or any mispelling thereof in the title.

When I was in Germany a few years back, one of my favorite shows was Takeshi's Castle. They played the unedited version, but with a German guy dubbed over telling you what's going on. They didn't add in crazy dialogue, which I liked better. The challenges themselves were usually quite hilarious, and that was the entertaining part. I haven't seen an entire episode of MXC, but in the version I used to watch, it was set up that the players were sort of like recruits for the general's army, and they were gonna take on Takeshi (IIRC). The final challenge was the remaining players (usually about 4-8 people) versus Takeshi and his goons. Quality entertainmet.

I love that show. The dubbing is mostly lame, but I guess on some fundamental level, it's just really fun to watch goofily-dressed people fall down. I do wish there was somewhere I could see the original Takeshi's Castle though.

We found that show while channel surfing one night, and just about died!

"And now, this week's number one Most Painful Elimination...!!!"

Hysterical, but it hasn't been on in our area lately... sniff
