I've been meaning to say I got an absolutely stupendous postcard from Anya Marie? Hard to read the signature. It's got an 800 pound skull of a T rex on the front! It's awesome.

I also got a Wildcat Cafe from Northern Piper some time ago as well as a "Breakfast of Champions - Buffalo Wings" from Wayne.

Sorry. I'm a little behind. Thanks!

Got a card today from gardentraveler. Go, Bucks!

Isn't it nice that the USPS had standard postcard stamps of my favorite shirts?

Posting this from a plane - have not been home in two weeks to check mail, but cards are somewhere out there sent...

Sorry about radio silence

Got a postcard the other day from ~Olive~. My ex-husband lives in HI, but I think he is on Oahu.

I also received a card a few weeks ago. That must have been a bonus round card from Northern Piper. Thanks!!

I got one today from gardentraveler. Thanks!

It features The Ohio State University football team. This seems like the perfect place to describe where they fall in my college football hierarchy/how I decide who to root for.
  1. Tennessee Vols. I'm an alumnus and grew up cheering for them. They're my team.
  2. Any SEC team that's not playing TN and isn't the Florida Gators.
  3. Florida Gators
  4. Any team who's playing Ohio State.
  5. Ohio State. I hate those f*ckers.

Thanks for the card! I think that makes 3 for me in this final round.

What? There are people who don't think the Bucks are the best thing since sliced bread? Who knew?

I'm a transplant who was born a Michigan State fan, but I've lived here so long that I've outgrown my distaste for the Bucks.

Patience, young padawan!

We have discovered many vagaries in delivery time in doing the Postcard Exchange. The most dramatic is that it seems to take less time for a postcard to come from Australia to the United States than it does for a postcard to go from the United States to Australia. Why this should be so is unknown; possibly some temporal warp device used by the Australian Post Office.

Cards do ultimately seem to arrive, however.

I got a card from needscoffee for Seattle. That's one of the places I'd like to see soon.

I've still received only one card here.

I got two postcards today, both from fine country of Canada! One from Minionkat, with folksingers featured that I will have to check out. My sister knew exactly how they were tho. (Kate and Anna McGarrigle, for the curious). The other was from Northern Piper, featuring the Royal Canadian Mounted Police. Awesome! Thank you!

Finally made it to my post office when it was open and I had a full mailbox pigeonhole. When your entire post office is the desk on the front porch of a nice older lady then you don't get actual mailboxes. It took me a couple years to get my own pigeonhole, having moved up from a pile of mail under a seashell on the corner of the desk.

As a one person operation the entire post office is subject to being shut down for vacation, a medical appointment, or miscellaneous errand. I stopped by a few times over the last couple weeks but just wasn't managing to be there when the postmistress was home... until today. She does stamp received on times as they come so, in order of arrival:

Oct 2 The Seattle skyline in all its glory on a card from needscoffee along with a brag about the weather. And the coffee. Cayman is close enough to Jamaica to get good Blue Mountain beans... possibly the second most common agricultural import from that island.

Oct 2 The Maine coast is the feature of a card from Atomic Mama. To answer your question... our seafood is pretty good but your lobsters outclass our Caribbean claw-less lobsters any day. Try a conch ceviche for a taste of my island.

Oct 4 I have a nice card of the Shenandoah Valley from Raventhief. Why do I not remember cliffs like that from my roaming around the southern Appalachians?

Oct 8 Bonus round card of a northwoods cafe from the Northwest Territories thanks to Northern Piper who wins the prize for the single largest postage stamp on any post card. Of course if your stamp features the HMS Titanic then the stamp has to be huge!

Anecdote to add... upon my visit to the post office today the postmistress' husband was home and well engaged in one of his favorite past times - hand weaving palm fronds to make a tote bag or basket.

What a great post Iggy. I'm picturing the postmistress' husband weaving away right now.

I haven't received any more cards. FloatyGimpy's one from Canada got here over a week ago, but nothing since.

I hit the Canadian trifecta this round. Had already mentioned the Mountie from FloatyGimpy, received a passel of Mounties from our esteemed organizer a couple of days ago, and today received a stamp-themed postcard from minionkat. So, yay! All 3 received for this round.

Thanks everyone!

I have received two cards. I thought I'd mentioned them but I guess not.

One is from Anaamika, and is a neat picture of African wildlife. The other is from Anya Marie, and there are beach scenes fro Siesta Key on Florida's West Coast. If I had a beach body I'd like to be there!

Anaamika and Northern Piper, I guess I'm Wayne! It's true; my handwriting is awful. I should just type on the postcards and save all of us some trouble.

The postcard described was from a former Exchange, though. Maybe it just took a long time to arrive.

If I squint really hard I can see that it says "Nanya". But yes, now that you mention it, it says September 5, and I only got it at the end of September (I posted late). So it still took a couple of weeks (!!) to get here. And I only live across the state!

My apologies to Anaamika, Nayna & Sunspace - your cards were only posted yesterday. I wanted to get cards from this special tourist trap 150 miles out of Sydney, so had to arrange to get them mailed to me.

I have received two cards that show the quintessential United States - a hed of giraffe from Anaamika, and a bronze statue in Florida - I don't remember who from or what the statue was, one of the kids took it to show and tell and lost it.
