So...John Malkovich

I've never thought of him as a youngin'...can't even think of a role in which he doesn't play a dissolute cynic...but...

Is he ok?

The Siri commercials make it seem as if he's aged 3 decades in one.

Am I just stuck on remembering him from his Dangerous Liason days, or...?

I see him as Valmont in Dangerous Liasons, and so he looks very grandfatherish in that commercial. There is really only 4 years difference between him in Places in the Heart and Dangerous Liasons. He is in his late 50s so I suppose he is just refusing to do the whole dye the hair and get a face lift deal that Hollywood normally does. More power to him, I think he looks like someone who would be comfortable to sit across a fireplace from and read while having coffee some winter afternoon.

I didn't think he seemed especially old or bad in that commercial. He's almost 60 and I thought he looked like a guy of that age who's taking pretty good care of himself.

And he was great in that jewel thief movie.

He lives quite close to me, and I've seen him out and about fairly frequently. He looks like a regular 10-or-so-years older than me dude. Always gives me the "hey person that I vaguely recognize" half-smile/nod when I run into him.

It also doesn't help that those iPhone commercials make him look like a creepy old loner. "There's nothing on your schedule for tonight." "Tell me a joke, Siri." That's just weird.

My wife thought it would have been cool if there was something on Malkovich's schedule - gazpacho with Samuel L. Jackson!

I also saw someone said that the Zooey Deschanel commercial becomes more touching if you imagine Zooey has been blind since birth ("Siri, is that rain?").
