Well, I'm about to venture forth in search of milk, tissues, and maybe some medicinal ice cream.
Or perhaps some cough lozenges. I shall do my best not to breathe when in the presence of humans...

I'm watching The Wizard of Oz for the umpteenth time - "Hurry" Dorothy cries "the hourglass is almost empty!" Even at age 7 I asked the TV why she didn't just turn the stoopit thing over.

So, some vile plague has descended on Dark2Phoenix and he was up all night with tummy rebellion, now also laid low by body aches. No fever though, so we are puzzled: food poisoning? tummy bug? delayed reaction to rich foods, combined with soreness from said all night rebellion and exhaustion? Urg, sometimes being overly analytical will make you crazy. I'm hoping hard for something non-contagious. Meanwhile, I was up three times with the little one, to deal with a leaky pullup, then two rounds of sore throat. At least I know the sore throat isn't a virus - we mucked out the study yesterday so the nice man could fix our internets. It hadn't been cleaned, dusted, or vacuumed in mumblemumble, and we removed more than a cup of dust, to judge by the vacuum. But of course a lot of dust just broke free to float about and cause surges of histamine in the susceptible family members. Anyway, I'm exhausted, had to get up and pay bills/budget, which I hate, and now I get to do all my chores plus Dark2's.

Afternoon all,
Was a Helpful today- the housemate has been leaving everything absolutely last minute regarding shopping, and had told me last night that she really needed to get everything done today... so at 2pm, realising the shops shut in 3 hours, I woke her up... I then spent the next three hours frantically driving round getting presents for all her family, finally getting the last one less than 5 minutes before the shops all shut. I've got her to knit mittens for cousin's babbeh, I reckon she owes me one... Found a really nice finger puppet for babbeh's big bro, in a craft 'n toy shop less than 200 meters from the house. Don't know why I didn't think of there rather than going all over the city to mahoosive toy shops and fighting the seething hordes- they're dead close, have really nice stuff, and are incredibly cheap, but anyway- that should be it, but Dad's present has still not arrived, it has tomorrow morning, otherwise I'm going to have to get something else on the way... Wish me a fast postie! I'm glad we only have to do this rubbish once a year. |

Howdy Y'all! Home from deheathenization and a trip to
The Maul!!! Actually it wasn't to bad bravin' The Mail. I found a close parkin' space and managed to go into the two anchor stores I needed to go to without enterin' The Maul proper. I've had me a hoagie sammich and some chips and am now in chill mode.Nuts appropriate/inappropriate appendages crossed for your dad's present arrivin' tomorrow. ForbiddenSpice appropriate/inappropriate appendages crossed that no vile plague has descended. MOOOOOOM ice cream is always medicinal when one has the vile plague. I'm really likin' the term "vile plague." ![]() I have decided that I am in desparate need of a nappy poo. Laterz! |

Fruitcake in oven. Even being verrah tired, it's hard to be cranky with the smell wafting through the house!
Best part is I put together a "kit" for making a second batch as I was measuring and chopping and all. So later this week I can make moar fruitcake with minimal effort! |

swampy - how many folkses will your mom be hosting this year?? Yoiks!!
I've eaten yet more soup, and I just finished emptying and refilling the dishwasher and cleaning the cat box since I forgot to do it earlier. This afternoon has been a marathon sneeze-fest that has now turned into a cough-a-thon. ugh. I finished making a hat earlier, then started another - I'm not worried about germifying whoever gets them since I always launder my creations before I donate them. It's rare that something I make doesn't end up with some dog or cat spit on some of the yarn, since they think my hobby is their plaything. Idiot animals... ![]() And wouldn't you know while I was at the store, I forgot to get cough drops and hot chocolate mix... I knew I shoulda made a list. Oh well... back to knitting...

MOOOOOOM there'll be sixteen for dindin but others will come and go durin' the festivities of the day so all totaled around twenty-five. My mother is a bakeoholic. Seriously. She cannot like bake a cake or a pie. It's at least one of each and that's just on a normal ordinary day. Oh and do not ever suggest she use a store boughten crust. The horror!

My sweet, innocent, lil' ol' southern mama once asked the manager at a local grocery store in ye olde hometowne where she could find the rum because she needed a small bottle of it to make a glaze for a pound cake.
Understand that, in Jawja, one cannot buy distilled spirits in a supermarket. Beer and wine yes. Go figure. So, no, no rum balls. In order to make said glaze she called me (this was a long, long time ago when I still lived there) and asked me to go to the liquor sto' to get her some rum. I got miles out of that!

Did I mention that I was heavily pregnant? I felt the need to mention that I was baking, yes, lots of baking, so no one should assume that I was going to go consume any of these bottles, still wrapped in the paper bag or anything. By the way, I felt it my duty to test one of today's fruitcakes to make sure they're OK. So I had fruitcake and tea for dinner. (They're more than OK.) I just went to Subway (alone) to get something for my grandparents to have for NOL tomorrow. I ordered one foot long chicken, bacon, ranch and one foot long Subway melt (ham, turkey, bacon). The woman asked me if it was for there or to go.

My DH favors hot&sour soup for sinus, sore throat, and general vile plagues.
![]() Deheathenizing was quite enjoyable today, including a nice song by the congregation kids (ages 3-11). Still unreasonably tired a lot lately. Kitchen sink is now working. DH and I solved it with a rush run to Home Despot (as we call it) for a plumbing snake and a side dash to Big Lots for more drain-opener goo. I've run the dishwasher twice now with no sink backup. Under-sink clutter is now put away again and a bit better organized. Pretty much in vegetate mode right now. |

Hope everyone's holidays are as stress-free and joyful as possible! (Sorry about your little one, Apes; that has to suck!)
The job response I've been waiting for is still uncertain, so it's yet another week, at least, of 'WTF'. Which I shouldn't complain about, as I spend most of the day with 5 little dogs and two big ones, and it's just a big old puppy pile all day long. I also helped make tamales for the first time, and that is a LOT of work! Quite yummy though. Tomorrow is some last-minute shopping, and the day after Christmas MrTao and I are going to escape for hotel sex, wheee! (TMI?) There will also be Buffalo Wild Wings involved, and that is always very, very yum. And this should be the end of the MMP for this week, I think; sorry I didn't have anything interesting to share! |
