When did Quartz become such a tool?

ATMB thread he started.

Note Colibri, a mod, called him on his "concerns"...

So, just to give the board a better "aura", or something, we are to refrain from calling a spade a spade? Sing kumbayas while the country melts down?

Then on top of that, he has the unmitigated blind hypocritical gall to say this:

Uh-oh, another heretic sighting. Yes, we've discovered someone who we have reason to believe is insufficiently opposed to Trump. Notify the Inquisition immediately.

There's quite a lot of cross-over between Drunky Smurf and you, but that hasn't stopped either of you.

All of the rabid Trumpy-Wumpies have turned into tools, because It's Their Turn, Nyah.

Which I find surprising, since debate here tends to be fact-v-fact slugfests, and all theTWs can manage is tired deflection and dissimulation. I propose a ban on replying to TW posts unless they contain an addressable fact. Quit responding to posts free of content beyond
  1. Democrat types LOST.
  2. HRC's a cunt.
  3. TW is going to do great things.
  4. Oh, yeah? Prove it!
...which, AFAICT, is 99% of what's posted by anyone not professing absolute shock at the bozo box the White House has become.

Yeah, it's not like he's posting utterly stupid shit, like "Trump has only signed one executive order," it's because he doesn't sufficiently hate Trump. You got us.

Or you could actually read the OP and respond to what was actually said.

Quartz should be happy that the OP only thinks he's dumb. I personally think it was concern trolling.

Yes, he's really concerned that a liberal-leaning message board might be harmed by being too hateful towards Donald Trump.

The irony of you writing any sentence beginning with "No one is really dumb enough to think ..." is rich.

ETA: I see now you've edited to erase those sentences. Maybe you appreciated the irony.

Quartz (who is British) went very slightly off the rails with the Brexit vote and has remained there ever since. Compared to some of the board's Trumpistas he's positively polite, but he's still happily carrying teacups full of water for The Donald.

But I agree that the concern trolling was concern trolling. I don't recall him being bothered by an overabundance of Obama threads, although he is certainly welcome to prove me wrong on this.

I would agree that it's fair to say that there's been some dumb posts about Trump (that he's illiterate, that he's got some amazing 4D chess strategy going, etc.). Trump is just an idiot who gets bored easy. It's really that simple. He got into the job because most people are idiots who get bored easy and the country has been steadily been moving towards true Democracy for 200 years now. He has mass appeal.

But I wouldn't particularly fear for the future of the board based on this. The fact that you immediately get hit with popups would, I imagine, be the real thing keeping any potential newbie from even considering joining the site or even lingering long enough to read a couple of posts.

There have always been stupid posts on the SDMB and there will always be stupid posts on the SDMB. That's not unique to the last few months.

I have no dog in this fight, but it is a little depressing when 75% of the OPs in the Pit are either directly or tangentially related to Trump. It makes you guys seem a bit like the politics obsessed, crazy uncle who relates everything to the President.

What's this "you guys" business? What's depressing to me is the % of American voters who thought Donald Freeking Trump would make a good President.

Trump supporters can't defend what Trump is saying and doing. So they're hoping they can convince people to avoid the topic.

It's going to be a long four years for them. Sure, everybody's going to suffer but at least we can say it wasn't our fault. Trump supporters don't have that.

The observation made by the poster named Quartz, who is the subject of this thread, is a most correct observation, and that poster is now being chastised by the liberal, group thinking community for daring to point out the obvious.

I fucking hate that guy- I'm just happy to have an opportunity to say so!

Even before he was sucking Trump's dick, he always had such creepy opinions about women- he likes to point out all the sexism against men there is in this world. And one time he got super-duper angry and told us all about that time he saw a women in the park caught in the rain, and he was baffled as to why this women wouldn't share his umbrella with him. Gross. Obvious answer- because he probably comes across as a total fucking creep.

As someone who enjoys auto repair, fabrication and all-around general "handy-man" stuff, I am offended by the use of the "T" word. I have a large collection of Craftsman, Mac, Snap-On and others, and the hate-speech in this thread is causing me great distress!

Please respect my Safe Space and refrain from using the "T" word.

Quartz and other stone tools date back to at least 2.5 million years ago, and were invented by ancestors of modern humans, probably Homo habilis.

Since the UK currently lacks aircraft capable of operating from a carrier, nukes - or rather, the threat thereof - are the only way the UK has of defending the Falklands.

And keeping the Falklands is worth killing hundreds of thousands or millions of civilians, making it easier for other countries to use nukes, and making the UK an international pariah? I doubt even the most patriotic, pro-UK Falklands Islanders would agree with that.
