Well, this bit was kind of stealthy:

The unveiling of Limbaugh’s bust was kept secret from all but invited guests until less than an hour before the ceremony.

While Republican lawmakers were invited, Democrats were not and visitors were blocked from entering. All but one of the doors to the House chamber were locked with armed Highway Patrol and Capitol Police patrolling the hallways outside the chamber.
Also interesting that apparently the Speaker gets to select HOF members, but a separate organization (controlled by the Dem governor) apparently controls statues in the rotunda - so perhaps an ongoing spat.

Of course, we Missourian's have much more important things to worry about, but that won't stop anyone in Jeff City.

Benedict Arnold is one of the most famous people from Connecticut but I doubt he'll ever be added to the state HOF. So to a certain extent, popularity is an issue.

We should convince Michael Moore to live in Missouri for a while so we can induct him... I wonder how the Republicans would feel about that?

True, but he's a special case... after all, he did try to upend the revolution, and he didn't live in the US after the Revolution was over. He ended up living in England, so I am guessing he lost is claim to the Conn. HOF.

Folks from Missouri, don't sweat it. I doubt he will drag in the masses (or his ditto-heads) Besides, you can skip this HOF and go to the Bowling HOF instead (isn't this in St. Louis?)

Now THAT"S a good time had by all. Earl Anthony, anyone?

Well, he was no Dick Weber. But then, who is? That's just how he rolled.

Famous people from Missouri. Plenty to choose from. Including criminals. Does James Earl Ray get a HOF bust?

The REAL debate here is whether to pronounce it Mizuree or Mizzurah.

Oh, it has to be Mizuree, or "Shenandoah" just wouldn't sound right.

It's getting bizarre. Anyone not scared about the ongoing ascendance of the Conservative Movement should look at what's actually happening in state legislatures like Missouri's. These are the farm teams for Congress, and they are full of dangerously corrupt, dangerously silly amateur dabblers in politics who happily bow down to Rusty Limbaugh and his type.

Jay Nixon is probably the most trusted figure in Missouri politics, though.

While you may argue that Limbaugh is indeed famous, consider who he is in company with now. From the story:

Coming this close on the heels of his most recent foot-in-mouth scandal, I can only imagine that this will hurt the Republicans who were behind it. Then again, depending on their district, they may get their own busts installed at the county courthouse.
If I did that I would try to keep it a secret too!!!
