The most interesting car I didn't see today is a neighbour's '62 Austin-Healey Sprite. It's been for sale, and I noticed it was not in his driveway when I was on my walk today.

I was behind an Audi e-tron. Almost didn't notice it except for the "electric car" license plate.

Exactly. After spending several minutes talking about his truck, the owner had to leave. I took a short video, 17 seconds. The engine sounded great.

Has anyone seen one of the new Toyota Supras around? Followed one for a few blocks home from the movie theater, and dayum! Even just from the rear, with a couple views of the sides while turning, that beast looks even better than the picture.

While out for a bike ride this morning I saw a guy working on his 1963ish Dodge Dart in his driveway.

Also, a few houses down I saw a late 1970s or early 1980s Volvo 244 DL. Does anyone know when Volvo stopped badging them as 244, 245, etc and just started badging them as as 240s? It looked like it was in pretty much like new condition. I almost wonder if it had been restored; I know these old Volvos have a following.

I need to amend my previous post. While out for a walk today I saw a third generation (1975-79) Buick Skylark parked in a neighbor's driveway. It had no visible rust, only slightly faded paint, and its vinyl top (remember those?) was completely intact. Its only serious flaw was the plastic filler between the rear bumper and the body was broken and mostly gone, which as I understand is a common issue with GM cars from that era. In other words the car appeared to be a totally original true survivor. I've seen this car parked there a few times in the past, so I assume it must belong to a friend or relative of the person who lives there. Here's a photo I took of it in the same spot just over two years ago. (At the time I was I was going through I phase where I would photograph all the interesting old cars I saw; you'll notice the picture of the Sentra on the previous page was taken around the same time.)

On Friday I saw a early 60's Lincoln Continental... complete with the suicide doors. I swear it was three blocks long.

A McLaren...

...on the side of the interstate...

...with another car behind it; that car had lots of red & blue LEDs flashing.

Also saw a topless 60's Vette, literally driven by a little old lady & a Porsche 356 getting gas.

I had forgotten about this thread, but I want to share my story from two weeks ago.

I had gone up to Wisconsin for the weekend, to visit my parents; while driving back to Chicago, on I-43, north of Milwaukee, I was passing a truck towing a trailer; on the trailer there was an older red-and-white car; stylistically, the car clearly looked like it was from the 1950s or 1960s.

It was raining pretty heavily, so I didn't initially have a clear view of the car on the trailer -- as I got closer, I realized there were two propellers under the car's rear bumper. Propellers???

It was an Amphicar. I'd never seen one "in the wild" before.

I came to report seeing a couple of them. Sweet! I will have to take one for a test drive.

I forgot to post it yesterday -- last night on the way home I saw a Pontiac 6000 station wagon. An old Pontiac wagon might not be the most exciting car (although Pontiac's slogan back then was "We build excitement."), but it's one of those cars that used to be extremely common but now you hardly ever see anymore. It was in pretty good shape for its age, and had Nevada plates which would explain the lack of rust.

I spotted an Ellison sports car. First one I've ever seen. Candy apple red. Long long wheel base. Beautiful body. Very reminiscent of the Jaguar X series from the fifties/sixties/seventies?

I can't find any information on the web regarding this car. If you know anything about this car I would like to hear about it.

I saw what I'm pretty sure was a mid-1950s Chrysler in a neighbor's driveway. It could possibly have been a Dodge, but from what I could see as a drove by it looked like the badge on the rear fender started with 'C', so I'm thinking Chrysler.

I saw a gold AMC AMX while out driving today, similar to the one in this picture (so, probably around a 1968 or 1969). It was in excellent shape, and clearly very well taken-care-of. Unlike some of its muscle-car brethren from that era, like Camaros and Mustangs, it's a pretty rare car to see, at least around here.

Bit late to the thread. Just before the bottom dropped out of Summer here in Denver, I saw a Bugatti Chiron.

Commuting (Presumably, considering the hour) to work. In downtown Denver. Like the rest of the savages.

I've seen a few Veyrons...in car shows and even in public (around Vail)...but I've never seen a Chiron in person, much less being used like a car.

I saw a '57 Chevy sedan in a really remarkable maroon paint scheme; obviously not anything close to original, but very striking. And a well done restoration job.

Today was a 1st generation (1964-67) Pontiac GTO, not a complete restoration job but one that looks like it gets driven pretty hard. It was cruising around Lake Placid on Columbus Day weekend.

It's Jaguar time in the neighborhood. Parked next to a green XJ on Friday and today saw an XF up on a trailer (and at a place that's known for doing repos, too ).

I really don't find Jagaurs interesting, interesting. But compared to the SUVs and crap that populate the burbs they're at least a change of pace.
