Here's one we missed:

Video game developer Alec Holowka died on August 31, 2019 (at age 35). Cause of death seems to be an overdose, possibly accidental. He had battled mental and personality disorders over the years, and was accused of physically and emotionally abusing Zoe Quinn.

He wasn't the lead singer. Benjamin Orr had the lead on probably half the songs.
But yeah. Sad news.

I didn't know precisely how old he was. But I remember The Cars hit it big when I was in high school and I know how long ago that was.

I caught a "blurb" of that over at AOL ------- surprised the hell out of me. She seemed to have it beaten pretty much but at her age you can never tell. Hell, at any age you can never tell.

I'm old enough to remember when all the game shows were based in new York, and they had a regular procession of Broadway performers appearing on them. Phyllis Newman appeared time and time again, and always earned the adjective "vivacious."

I loved her on Las Vegas (the James Caan/Josh Duhamel series), where she played a spa worker with absolutely no filter who said the most hysterical things.

Someone we missed back in June: Stephanie Niznik, who costarred in Everwood and also had a part in several Star Trek episodes and in Insurrection, died by in June at the age of 52.

(Or at least I didn't find her name when I searched in the thread back through April.)

He had kidney problems from birth. I love how DS9 developed ALL the characters...even Morn got his own episode. My favorite scene with Nog is when he finally broke down and told Sisko why he really wanted to join Star Fleet.

Food Network chef and frequent guest of many podcasts and radio shows has reportedly died at 44. This one really sucks. I listened to him many times on various shows. He was just a naturally funny an engaging person. Not officially announced but many of his friends are posting about his death on social media.

It's great and Sisko's reaction is also great. I actually am not a huge Trek fan, but Deep Space Nine was an actual really good show sometimes. Clearly the best effort of the TV shows, in my opinion.

Babylon 5 was way better, though.

Other than the original ------ DS9, the Ferengi (and the Rules of Acquisition of course), and how all that played just hit something with me. A little bit of Gunsmoke-in-Space and a little Heinlein-like I just really enjoyed what I got to see of it. He played his part well and brought a nice touch to it.

Joe Wilson, the former husband of Valerie Plame, whose 2003 op-ed pointing out that the Bushies used shoddy intel to justify the Iraq War led to the Bushies' retaliating by outing Plame as an intelligence agent, has died at age 69.

But here's the cool thing about him:
Quote:
As acting ambassador to Iraq in the run-up to the first Gulf War, he was the last US diplomat to meet with Saddam Hussein, in 1991.

He very publicly defied the Iraqi strongman by giving refuge to more than 100 US citizens at the embassy and in the homes of US diplomats - at a time when Saddam Hussein was threatening to execute anyone who harboured foreigners.

He then addressed journalists wearing a hangman's noose instead of a necktie.

He later told the Washington Post newspaper that the message to Saddam Hussein was: "If you want to execute me, I'll bring my own [expletive] rope."
I remember hearing that story at the time of the 1990-1991 Gulf War, but never made the connection to Wilson when he and Plame were in the news in 2003 and afterwards.
