I made the SD better--how? Please don't help

Dunno what I did but recently I musta done something that puts 100 threads on the page I'm viewing--previously (like for the past 10 years) I only saw 50 threads per page. What'd I do?

Actually, there is a way for you to help--could I get 200 threads per page? 300?

If you go to this page (normally accessed via User CP > Edit Options) and scroll down to Thread Display Options, you'll see one called Number of Posts to Show Per Page. Choose the number you want from the dropdown box — looks like the current max available is 200.

Ok, I thought I was going nuts and must have done it in my sleep or something. I knew you could change it, I just hadn't realized I'd done it! Now I know it wasn't just me.

Oddly enough I just noticed: I've been here for exactly 10 years.

How do you go to User CP, scroll down the page, scroll down the options in a drop-down list and choose one of them, all without knowing you did all that.

Sleepwalking some?

Probably because he's asking about the number of threads displayed on a forum page and the response was about the number of posts displayed on a thread page.

Yeah, I failed reading comprehension on that one. Sorry about that.

I wondered if that option might control both, but actually I don't appear to be able to change any User CP settings at all, thanks to this required field:

Quote:
Unscramble this jumble and type correctly ALL CAPS: ICCEL"
The text box where you'd type the response only accepts two characters (and "CE" doesn't work). I tried it on a few different browsers with the same result.

Anyhow, back to the OP, the only way I can find to control this is through the admin panel, and since it's showing 100 pages per thread for me too (never noticed that before), I'm guessing TPTB changed the default at some point.

It seems to have happened to me as well, spontaneously. I didn't change my options in User CP consciously. No explanation from my side either but here's another data point that some system change occurred.

Yeah, I've noticed it too and I definitely didn't change my settings -- but I am set to use the defaults; which as noted above have probably been changed

Hey, you're right. The Joe Paterno thread is only 87 pages long now!

Yup. Mine changed as well. I didn't make any kind of changes to my User CP... it just happened. I suppose maybe TPTB changed the default number of threads ber page??

Just so you don't think we're trying out some new secret thing, this happened to me without my doing anything. Maybe two days ago?

I do NOT like having my computer and/or the board software in charge of my life.

I demand an answer.

Yep. That was the answer. More traffic on the boards, more replys and threads. So, default was changed from 50 to 100.

It's another device used against spambots -- it shows up in the personal profile field.

I should probably see if I can remove it from view for regular folk because we only use it at registration.

Now if only TPTB would see the light, and realize that 100 posts per page within a thread is the only right, proper, and One True setting.
