When you start a thread, please include a link to the Straight Dope column

Welcome to the SDMB, and thank thee for posting thy comment.
Please include a link to Cecil’s column if it’s on the straight dope web site.
To include a link, it can be as simple as including the web page location in thy post (make sure there is a space before and after the text of the URL).

Cecil’s columns can be found online here.

If the column is not online, please mention where you read it - e.g. your local newspaper, or one of the Straight Dope books.

If from a newspaper, please mention the newspaper and date.
If from a book, please mention the title / page number.

This helps ensure that the people commenting on your post are all on the same page.

P.S. The link doesn’t have to be in every post in the thread, but only in one of the posts in that thread.

We’ve had a lot of people posting links like this. That’s fine for those in the know, but newer members (and even some longer-term members) might not notice. I’d like to strongly urge that, when you start a thread commenting on Cecil’s Column, you provide a clear and obvious link:
