72 mins on a minidisc?

I used to know all there is to know about these lil buggers. I know that there is compression goin’ down to fit the same lenght of music on a disc half the size. I know that the technology works by eliminating all the sound that is out of the human audible range. What I DON’t know is what the acronym for this compression is.
And it’s driving me crazy! Can anyone 'member what the damn name of the technology is?

ATRAC , if i remember correctly. though that’s not by researching anywhere on the internet. try http://www.minidisc.org

and it’s 60min, 74min, 80min (which are great) and supposedly 100min. and that’s not including 78min MDs which are 74min MDs that have a cloned TOC from an 80min MD

Yeeeeah, I 'membered the Acronym ATRAC, but what does it stand for and what does it do? I am getting old, I used to know all this shtuff and now I can’t 'member to save my life.
