Aircraft Design & Mitigated/Eliminated Sonic Booms

Just as vehicles, boats/ships, and aircraft can be made surprisingly aero/hydro dynamic, as well as “stealthier”–and helicopters made dramatically quieter–I’m wondering if computer modeling and cutting-edge technologies would allow for the construction of a fighter jet that has little to no sonic boom from the perspective of a ground observer, were the manufacturer so inclined.

Also, is it possible to direct sonic waves away from the ground?

I thought we already had a fighter jet that had little or no sonic boom. It’s called the F-17 Stealth Fighter.

But oh wait, it doesn’t have any guns as all other fighters do, it only carries bombs. My bad.

Getting serious, I don’t see how you could have a jet fighter that exceeded the speed of sound, yet created no sonic boom for those on the ground to hear. It would go agains t the laws of physics or something. Yeah, that’s it.

Runs and hides with hands shielding head and face.

Great minds think alike. Supersonic is Back-Quietly
